Anita Joyce Harris

Kirkland, TX - Graveside services for Mrs. Anita Joyce (Proffitt) Harris, of Wilson, OK are scheduled for 1:00 PM Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Kirkland Cemetery, Kirkland,TX. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.

Anita was born February 12, 1939 at Childress, TX to the late Adis Young "A.Y." Proffitt and Lassie Leona (Spurlock) Proffitt. She went to her heavenly home at the age of 81 years, 11 months and 17 days, on Friday, January 29, 2021 in Wilson, OK.

Anita was raised in Childress County, attending school at Kirkland, TX. She married Bill Harris on November 5, 1955 at Paducah, TX. They farmed in Delwin Community before moving to Childress. They then worked at R H Norris Hardware Company before getting into the sewing industry. They resided at Chandler, OK, Many, LA, Quannah, TX and then Carlsbad, NM. From there they moved to Wilson, OK in 2007. Anita always enjoyed crocheting, quilting and loved to cook. Her specialties were banana pudding and pies. Anita was a member of the Lone Grove Church of Christ.

Those preceding her are her parents, and a brother, Wayne Proffitt.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Harris of the home; daughter, Nola Harvey of Carlsbad, NM; sons, Bill Harris, Jr. of Lewisville, TX and Bob Harris and wife Georgette of Grapevine, TX; sisters, Barbara Harris and husband Jim of Kirkland, TX and Judy Czewski and husband Tom of Amarillo, TX; brothers, Richard Proffitt and wife Helen and Robert Proffitt, all of Childress, TX; sister-in-law, Edith Proffitt of Grandbury,TX; five grandchildren, one great grandchild and a host of other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Trey Harris, Kyle Harris, Logan Harvey, Kevin Nelsen, Matt Stephens, and Keith Williams.

Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM at Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.
