Annie Elizabeth Whatley

Wilson - Funeral Services for Mrs. Annie Elizabeth Whatley, 90 of Wilson are scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Friday, January 22, 2021 at Assembly of God Church of Wilson with Rev. Dale Tarp officiating and Lafon Glenn assisting. Interment will follow to Hewitt Cemetery. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.

Elizabeth was born March 14, 1930 in Wilson, OK to the late Mr. Marcus Bradshaw "Shorty" Croan, Sr. and Mrs. Jessie Edna (Wideman) Croan. She departed from this life, Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at her home in Wilson.

Elizabeth was raised in Wilson and attended school at Zaneis and Wilson Schools. She worked as an CNA at the Wilson Nursing Home and then as an LPN at Memorial Hospital for 35 years. Elizabeth married Mr. Aubery Loyce Whatley, Sr. on May 17, 1947 in Gainesville, TX. He preceded her in death on May 21, 2001. After retirement, she became a devoted homemaker. She loved baking her banana bread and making cookies and Christmas candy for people. Elizabeth loved playing games with friends and family, but did not like to lose, just ask any of her marble playing buddies. She also enjoyed helping at functions for her church, senior citizens and the homemakers association. Elizabeth was a devoted Christian being a member of the Assembly of God Church of Wilson and who was also devoted in reading her bible.

Preceding her in death are her parents; husband; brothers, Howard, Dugan, M.B., Corky, and baby Croan; sons, Johnnie, Jr., and Jake; daughter in law, Tanya Whatley; and a great grandson, Nikkolas Mangum.

Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Jane Butler and husband Dale of Ringling; sons, Jarvis Whatley of Wilson, and Jeff Whatley and wife Robin of Wilson; daughters in law, Kay Whatley of Ringling and Mildred Whatley of Lone Grove; sister, Lorene Crabtree Electra, WA; brother, Eddy Croan of Tyler, TX; sister in law, Mona Croan of Wilson; 20 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 37 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; special niece who was like her daughter, Glenna Bray; and by a host of other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Stacy Whatley, Greg Whatley, Warren Butler, Brad Whatley, Ronnie Whatley, John Whatley, Jericho Whatley and Braden Whatley. Honorary bearers will be all her nephews and Dennis Turpin.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 P.M., Thursday evening at Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.
