Wilson – Funeral Services for Mr. Benny Donald “Don” Baker, 81 of Wilson are scheduled for 10:00 AM Friday, October 11, 2013 at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel with Gary Scott Labeth officiating. Private Interment follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park of Ardmore.

Don was born January 7, 1932 at Ardmore to the late Mr. Andrew Harrison Baker and Mrs. Bertha Eula (Henderson) Baker. He departed this life Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at a health facility in Ardmore.

Don started school in Wilson and moved to Illinois for several years before returning to Wilson in the Ninth Grade. He graduated from Wilson High School in 1950. Don and the former Joy Len Barrett were united in marriage on Nov. 5, 1950 at Wilson. Don owned and operated Bakers Electric for many years doing electrical contracting for many major Oil companies in Oklahoma and Texas. He was also in sales before that for Continental Emsco.

Don enjoyed travelling with his family and friends. He enjoyed many ski trips and hunting and fishing trips in the company of his friends and family. Civically he was very involved in the community of Wilson. He volunteered as a DOC supervisor lending a hand at several community projects in Wilson for the School and the City. He served as the Chamber of Commerce president for 4 years and was a member of the Rotary Club. He was elected as a Grand Marshall of the Wilson Fall Festival and also served on the Boys and Girls Club of Wilson as a Board of Director. Don was very generous with his time and consistent with his dedication to the Community of Wilson and its School.

He is preceded in death by his Parents, Andrew and Bertha Baker and a brother, Andy Baker.

Survivors include loving wife Joy Len Baker of the home; Children, Joy Don Baker of Watauga, TX, Marcia Crosthwait and husband Bobby of Ardmore, and Benny Baker and wife Terry of Milford, OH; Grandchildren, Hope Hoffman and husband Paul of Daphne, AL, Jade Baker of Milford, OH, Chelsie Gabel and husband Scott Gabel of Verdigris, OK, Haley Schirmer and husband Brandon of Columbia, SC and Amy Clark and husband Chris of Yukon; Great Grandchildren, Baxter Hoffman, Price Hoffman, and Ella Hoffman all of Daphne, AL; Numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

Pallbearers are Lynn Henderson, Ray Davis, Frank Schaff, Jerry Mashore, Lyndal Hicks and Keith Barrett.

Honorary Bearers are Bill Mitchell and Orville Segroves.

Family visitation will be from 7-8pm Thursday evening at Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.
