Billie Marie Battles

Wilson – Funeral services for Mrs. Billie Marie (Briscoe) Battles, 73 of Ardmore are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Monday, March 15, 2021 at Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Wilson with her son in law, JD Scifres officiating and her nephew Matthew Briscoe assisting. Interment will follow to Hewitt Cemetery. Funeral services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral of Wilson.

Billie was born January 10, 1948 in Houston, TX to the late Mr. Elzie Thomas Briscoe and Mrs. Annie Delores (Kidwell) Briscoe. She departed this life on Thursday, March 11, 2021 in Ardmore.

Billie was raised in Countyline attending school at Fox and Velma, graduating from Velma High School in 1966. She married Dennis Battles in Wichita Falls on January 19, 1966. He preceded her in death on February 25, 1985. They were blessed with three children, Chris, Penny and Gina.

Billie graduated from LPN school in 1976 and worked at the Adventist Hospital until 1992. She then worked at Mercy Hospital and also worked some in Home Health. She enjoyed watching sports but mostly loved watching the kids play sports. Billie loved going to casinos and playing bingo with her sisters and Patsy and she also loved the spontaneous road trips she would take with them. Later in life she enjoyed just watching television. Billie was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Wilson.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Dennis; sisters, Deloris Jensen and Brenda Gordon; nephews, D.J. Jensen and Troy Downey; great nephew Landon Downey; and close friend, Joyce Caldwell.

Billie is survived by her children; Chris Battles and wife Shelly of Ratliff City, Penny Scifres and husband JD of Zaneis, Gina Cannon and husband Tim of Norman; sister, Louranna Cox and husband Ray of Ratliff City; brother, Tommy Briscoe and wife Donna of Velma; brother in law, Gene Jensen of Velma; grandchildren, Dillon, Cody Sara, Christophor, Maranda, Jacie, Kammi, Jesse, Joey, Dayna, Jade, Alyssa, J.T., Sean, Breanna, and Brayden; great grandchildren; Jaylan, Aldous, Coraline, Liam, Layla, Sutton, Austin, Easton, Mason, Tripp, Kai, Kambry, Maverick, Braylee, Jessa, and Jolie; best friend and partner in crime, Patsy Emerson; close friend, Helen Akins and many other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Christophor Battles, Jesse Buck, Joey Buck, J.T. Starr, Tanner Cassell, and Tim Cannon. Honorary bearers will be her nephews, Todd Dunn, Kevin Dunn, Thomas Downey, Doug Jensen, Jeremy Jensen, Michael Briscoe, and Donny Briscoe.

The family would like to thank the staff at Elmbrook Nursing Home for taking such care of their mom and loving her. They would also like to thank Cross Timbers Hospice and Shannon Parker for the care she provided.
