Services for Billy “McClain” Lang, 78, of Cheek, OK, are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Ardmore, with Pastor Donny Custar officiating. Interment will follow at Cheek Cemetery. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.
McClain was born at Eastman, OK on November 5, 1945, to the late Mr. Burney Clinton Lang, Sr. and Mrs. Dowlene (Webb) Lang. He departed this life Sunday, April 21, 2024, at Oklahoma City.
McClain was raised in Lone Grove where he attended school, graduating with the class of 1964. After graduation he and his brother Clint, took over the family business, Lang’s Conoco Station. They continued operating the service station for 38 years. McClain also had his own ranch where he raised many farm animals and had a deep passion for horses. In 1981 he hooked on to his cattle trailer and headed to Modesto, California to pick up his future bride, the former Ms. Vonya Zae Gannon. They were married in Turlock, California at the Freewill Baptist Church on December 21, 1981. The couple made their home back at Cheek, OK and have been blessed with 42 wonderful years of marriage. Besides ranching, he also worked with many families, volunteering his time, preparing their taxes, through the VITA program for around 50 years. McClain was a man of faith and had the most caring heart.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Burney and Dowlene; brother, Clint Lang; sister, Burlene Howard.
Survivors include, his wife, Vonya Lang of the home; stepson, Nate Jackson and wife Sheryl of Tyler, TX; sister, Lucretia Dickson and husband Don of Lone Grove; grandchildren, Jason Bates and wife Ritha, Melanie Nunes and husband Kevin, Chuck Ragsdale and wife Haley, Jenna White and husband Brian, and Joseph Jackson and wife Katie; 12 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.
Pallbearers will be Joe Jackson, Chris Taylor, Gary Holt, Burney Lang, Gary Quinby, James Morrow, Bob Boone, and Red Thetford.
Honorary bearers are Chris Hacker, Larry Wilson, David Fulligum, Johnathon Gannon, and Boyd Howell.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 P.M. Tuesday evening at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson.
