Billy Ray Powell

Ringling – Funeral Services for Mr. Billy Ray Powell, 53, of Ringling are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday September 11, 2014 at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel of Ringling with Bro. Buddy Barcheers officiating. Interment will follow at the Ringling Memorial Cemetery in Ringling.

Billy was born October 24, 1960 at Ringling to the late Nathan Ray Powell and Joy Sue Choate. He departed this life Sunday September 7, 2014 at Healdton.

Billy lived in this area most of his life. He graduated from Ringling High School in 1978 and soon began a career in the Oilfield. He worked as a welder, truck driver and a driller. He always enjoyed aggravating everyone and always enjoyed a good laugh. Billy loved every kind of sport and was of the Pentecostal Faith.

Preceding him in death are his Parents, Nathan Powell and Joy Sue (Choate) Tanner; Stepfather, Carl Tanner: Sisters, Glena Powell and Diane Sue Gaston and most recently his spouse Tammy Mitchell.

Survivors include his two Sons, Josey Powell and wife Whitley of Kingston and Darin Powell of Marietta; Daughter, Summer Phelps of Ardmore; Sisters, Sandi Baker and special friend Rhonda Wheat of Healdton and Donna Powell and husband Matt Burkhalter of Wilson; Grandchildren, Chloe Phelps and Brayley Powell; Nieces and nephews, Stormie and David, Heather and husband Jason, Laramie, Ty and Macy; great nieces and nephews, Liam, Noah, Dustin, Tye, Destiny, Brooklyn and Summer. Numerous other family and friends.

Casket Bearers are Jason Reynolds, David Throneberry, Mickey Dewbre, Billy Joe Dewbre, Johnny Dewbre and Ricky Branch.

Family visitation will from 5 to 7 pm Wednesday Evening at Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling.
