C. Jean Shivers (Turbeville)

C. Jean (Turbeville) Shivers, of Healdton departed this life on Friday, September 17, 2021 at Mercy Hospital of Healdton at the age of 81 years, 8 months, and 9 days. A celebration of Jean's life will be held at a later date. Cremation services are under the direction and care of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Healdton.

Jean was born on Jan 8, 1940 in Baskin, LA to the late Mr. Edgar W. Turbeville and Mrs. Clara (Spillers) Turbeville.

She was raised in Baskin, LA and attended school there. Clara graduated from Baskin High School. After graduating she went to work at the Dairy Freeze until she met Mr. Elmer Dee Shivers and they were united in marriage on March 9, 1962. They made their home in Winnsboro, Rustin and Monroe Louisina until 1971 when they moved their family to Marietta, OK and he went to work as a tire builder. Later she would move to Wilson and then spent the last 14 years in Healdton. Jean was a loving person who enjoyed taking care of others. She had numerous adopted children and grandchildren and they all called her Granny. Jean worked as a Home Care Provider for many years. She enjoyed fishing, sewing, picking pecans, and loved going to garage sales. Most of all she enjoyed family time playing board games. Scrabble was her favorite game.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer Dee Shivers on May 10, 1996; grandson, Billy Harvey; sisters, Doris Smythe and Faye Newton; brothers, George Turbeville, Ezra Turbeville, and Edwin Turbeville.

She is survived by her children, daughter, Tavane Shivers of Healdton; son, Carlie Shivers of Tatums; son, Jay Dee Shivers and his wife Brenda of Tatums; daughter, Darla McCabe and her husband Tommy of Healdton; daughter, Mandy Shivers of Healdton; a brother, Dallas Turbeville of Texas; 14 grandchildren, 8 great grandchldren; Numerous other adopted children and grandchildren; many other relatives and a host of friends.
