Cameron Kreg Hunter

April 2, 1956 — May 26, 2019

Cameron Kreg Hunter, 63, of Healdton, passed away in his sleep on May 26, 2019. He was born on April 2, 1956, in Ardmore, to Cameron and Grace Ann (Orme) Hunter. Graduating from Fox High School in 1974, Kreg was the valedictorian of his class.

He graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. During his career, Kreg worked at Beacon Stamp and Seal, Halliburton, Healdton Community Library and several other jobs before retiring in recent years.

Kreg was baptized as a kid at First Baptist Church Fox, where he attended Sunday School and church. When he moved to Healdton, he transferred his membership to First Baptist Church Healdton. He had a scientific mind, but he believed in God and the power of prayer.

During his childhood, he was active in Boy Scouts, attending Camp Simpson with his troop. He also played trumpet in the high school band. Kreg fell in love with NASA/spaceflight, movies, TV shows, books and rock ‘n’ roll, especially The Beatles. The science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke was his favorite author. Those were still his passions later in life as well, as he wrote so eloquently about the subjects on social media. He enjoyed Dr. Pepper, tacos and pizza.

Kreg was so proud of his family, as evidenced by a moving speech he gave at his mother’s funeral in 2016. He was affectionately known to his nephews and nieces as “Uncle Bub.”

He was preceded in death by both parents as well as a brother-in-law, Gary Glenn; nephew, Paul Keith Hunter, Jr.; great nephew, Tres Galicia.

Kreg is survived by his brothers and sisters, Kim Glenn, of Healdton; Kent Hunter and wife Mary, of Ardmore; Keith Hunter and wife Ronette, of Marietta; Kay Sutton and husband Terry, of Velma; nephews and nieces, Kris Glenn and wife Casey, of Norman; Kole Sutton and wife Lisa, of Tulsa; Keisa Sutton, of Velma; Kyle Hunter and wife Kenna, of Marietta; Koby Hunter and wife Kelsey, of Lake Kiowa, Texas; Kaeli Galicia and husband Juan, of Lone Grove; Kale Hunter and wife Taylor, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; great nephews and nieces, Emma, Kam and Ella Sutton, of Tulsa; Khloe Johnson and Layken Dawson, of Velma; Lilly and Vincent Glenn, of Norman; Kambri and Kinsler Galicia, of Lone Grove; Krosby Hunter, of Winston-Salem, N.C.
