Carmeleta Cleeta (Vian) Addington

Ratliff City – Funeral services for Mrs. Carmeleta Cleeta (Vian) Addington, 89, of Pruitt City will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at the Midway Freewill Baptist Church North of Healdton with Rev. Paul Underwood officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Oklahoma City. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Ratliff City.

Carmeleta was born October 19, 1922 in Yukon, OK to the late Mr. Benjamin Vian and Mrs. Eula (Kepley) Vian. She departed this life on Friday, July 27, 2012 in Healdton.

Carmeleta was raised in Yukon on the farm her Grandparents received in the run of 1889, by her sister and brother in law Retta and Lonnie Wilson after the passing of her mother. She graduated Yukon High School in 1940. She married Mr. Earl Edward Addington on November 1, 1941 and they made their home in Oklahoma City until 1958 when Earl was transferred to Ratliff City for Kobe Pump Company. While in Oklahoma City she worked for Bama Pie and Liberty Bank. In Ratliff City she worked at the Pruitt City Café for Evelyn Briscoe, Thomas Grocery and Wooldridge Grocery. She and Earl bought the Fox Grocery store in 1971 and ran it for 15 years, she also worked for Green Thumb Ind, Fox Schools and Ratliff City Senior Citizen Center for 9 years. She was a member of the Gold Star Mothers of Ladies Auxiliary of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Midway Freewill Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death is her Husband, Earl E. Addington August 9, 1999; Son, Royce Addington in Vietnam on November 12, 1970; Grandson Alan Addington, May 27, 1985; 3 sisters and 1 brother.

Survivors include 3 sons, Mickey Addington and wife Joann of Aurora, CO, Leon Addington and wife Rhonda and Jackie Addington all of Healdton; daughter, Barbara Montgomery and Tom of Healdton; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.

Pallbearers will be members of the Midway Freewill Baptist Church.

Family visitation will be from 5- 7 P.M. Monday evening at Alexander Funeral Home in Ratliff City.
