Carmelita Annette Shirley

Wilson- Funeral services for Carmelita Annette (Parker) Shirley, 53, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel of Wilson, with the Rev. Ed Wise, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at the Ringling Memorial Cemetery. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.

Carmelita was born April 28, 1961, at Kaufman, TX to Luther L. Parker Sr. and Rachel Louise (Menton) Parker. She passed from this life Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Ardmore.

Carmelita has been a permanent resident of this area since 1993. She and Mr. Phillip Keith Shirley were united in marriage on December 4, 2010 at the Lake Murray Chapel. She worked mainly as a dietary cook, but was also employed as a cashier at convenient stores, and as a daycare teacher. Carmelita had a passion for cooking and taking care of children. She loved her dogs and adored her grandchildren.

Phillip preceded her in death on June 26, 2013. Also preceding her in death is her parents Luther L. Parker Sr. and Rachel Louise (Menton) Parker.

Survivors include her children, Janis Jordan, Rachel Jordan and fiancé Dustin Peden, all of Ardmore and Michael Jordan and Wife Daylene of Wilson; grandchildren Gabriel Ozment, Elijah Ozment, Christina Jordan, Hailie Jordan, and Sandy Foster; sisters Dollie Anna Haas of Cedar Creek, TX, Karen Hartley of Enis, TX, and Celesta Higginbotham of Gordonsville, TN; brother Luther “Bubba” Parker, Jr. and wife Shelley of Wilson; numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Michael Jordan, Jacob Parker, Joe Menton, Eddie Menton, Bubba Parker, and Kory Roberts. Honorary bearers are Gabriel Ozment, and Elijah Ozment.

Family visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday evening at the Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.
