Wilson – Funeral Services for Mrs. Carolyn Louise (Bray) Smith, 78 of Lone Grove are scheduled for 3:00 P.M. Thursday, September 28, 2023 at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Gardner officiating. Interment will follow to Lone Grove Cemetery.

Carolyn was born March 29, 1945 in Ardmore, Ok to the late David and Vera Bray. She departed from this life on Saturday, September 23, 2023 in Denison, TX.

Carolyn married Mr. A.B. Smith on March 23, 1962 in Gainesville, TX and moved to California where she was a cosmetologist. Upon moving back to Oklahoma, she became an LPN and later attended Rose State College where she graduated with honors as a registered nurse. Carolyn worked for Mercy Hospital and was a supervisor of pre-op and holding until she retired in 2006.

Carolyn was truly an angel on Earth. She had a passion for helping others and had a heart of gold who never met a stranger. Carolyn was known as Mimi to not only her grandchildren, but to others as well. Mimi loved telling stories and loved drawing. One of her favorite songs to sing was “The Rose”. Anyone that met her and knew her was truly blessed. Carolyn will be missed by us all. God has another angel sitting around his throne. If you truly knew her, her favorite saying was, “God don’t like ugly”.

Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers, Lanny, Roy, Ed, Bill and Keg Bray; sisters, Opal Green, Lou Godwin, Glenda Wadkins and Marge Green; son, David Smith; grandsons, Kylar Smith and Jeremy Moyers; and a son in law, Kenton Murphy.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, A.B; daughter, Tammy Murphy; sons, Rickey Smith and wife Ina and Randy Smith and wife Lisa; brother, Jay Bray and wife Janette; sister in laws, Marsha Nichols and husband Lee, Marcella Bray, and Marilyn Smith; grandchildren, Amanda Rivers and husband Kelvin, Kenna Guzman and husband Victor, Allison Murphy and husband Nathan, Cody Smith, Jennifer Winberry, James Winberry,  Jami Miller and husband Jeff; Chris White and wife Shelli, Danielle Upperley and husband Joe, and Madilynn Smith; great grandchildren, TJ, Aryana, Taryn, Kloe, Olivia, Jaycee, Jasmyn, Gento, Lucielle, Alexis, Owen, Oliver, Gavin, Gracie, Mason, Bristol, Averie, Harrison, and Henry; a special niece, Barbara Royal; and by a host of other family and friends.

Casket bearers will be Kelvin Rivers, Victor Guzman, Nathan Parker, Cody Smith, Donnie Ray Smith, and Steven Smith.

Honorary bearers will be friends and co-workers of Mercy Hospital.

A visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 5-7 P.M. at Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.
