Wilson - Funeral Services for Mr. Charles Ronnie Gaines, 72, of Wilson are scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Wilson with David Newby officiating. Interment will follow at the Hewitt Cemetery.

Ronnie was born on May 23, 1947 at Ardmore to the late Mr. Charles Rudolph Gaines and Mrs. Oneta Mardeena (Beaty) Gaines. He departed this life Monday, March 9, 2020 at his home in Denison, TX.

Ronnie was a native to Wilson, growing up here and graduating from Wilson High School in 1965. Ronnie enjoyed playing all sports and excelled in football as fullback. He voluntarily joined the United States Army during the Vietnam War and served honorably, completing one tour discharging in 1969. He then attended college at Murray State and afterwards at SOSU of Durant where he again played football as a savage.

Ronnie married the former Marilyn Richardson on June 18, 1970 at Wilson. They were blessed with three daughters, Rhonda, Charlotte and Cynthia. Ronnie worked most of his working years doing wheel and body alignments for Gaines Body Shop of Wilson. He also worked many years as doing over the road Trucking for several different trucking companies.

Ronnie always had a passion for horses and motorcycles. He loved every animal and was a proud supporter of ASPCA and made several donations to the Wilson Dog Pound. He always supported his daughters and grandchildren in whatever they were doing. He served as the first male Girl Scout Leader of the Sooner Council and always made his grandchildren's sporting events. Ronnie was always a member of the Churches of Christ.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Mardeena Gaines; infant sister Cynthia Gaines and a brother, Jerry "Lightning" Gaines.

Survivors include his three daughters, Rhonda Bassett and husband Justin of Denison, TX, Charlotte Noble and husband Kyle of Ringling and Cynthia Gaines of Lone Grove; brothers, Donnie Gaines and wife Darlene and Eric Gaines , both of Wilson; grandchildren, Kyle, Kelly, J.J., Justin, Hunter and Shelby; nieces and nephews, Jerry "Thunder" Gaines, Summer Phelps, Rance White, Holly Gaines, Kelly Jack and Shelley Gaines; numerous other family and friends.

Casket Bearers will be Rance White, Bobby Richardson, Kyle Noble II, Kyle Noble III, Roger Poyner, Justin Bassett Cody Morrell.

Honorary Bearers will be Coy Morrell, Nolen Albrightson, Jerry Richardson and Gary Gaither.

Donations in memory of Ronnie can be made to the Wilson Dog Pound 1065 US Hwy 70 A, Wilson, OK 73463

Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM Friday at Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Wilson.
