Daniel Franklin Arnold

March 10, 1948 — May 22, 2024

Wilson - Funeral Services for Mr. Danny F. Arnold, 76 of Wilson are scheduled for 10 A.M., Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at Wilson Assembly of God Church with Rev. Jim McGaughy officiating.  Interment will follow to Bomar Point Cemetery with military honors.  Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson. 


Danny was born March 10, 1948 in Pea Ridge, AR to the late Mr. Jess Frank Arnold and Mrs. Doris Lavon (Sustaire) Arnold.  He departed from this life Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at his home in Wilson after a lengthy battle with cancer.  


Danny was raised in Pea Ridge, AR, graduating in 1967.  He tried to join the U.S. Army during Vietnam war but was rejected for having pigeon heart.  Finally, he was accepted after bribing the doctor at Little Rock, AR.  He said he wanted to get even, because of his friends getting killed.  Danny officially joined May of 1969 at Fort Sill.  He trained in heavy artillery his first round and then went to Vietnam for 6 months.  Danny said it was so hot it felt like it was next to hell.  He then went to AIT training at Camp Le June becoming a sharpshooter and went back to South Vietnam and spent about 5 years total.  Danny received his discharge June of 1974.  He came back statewide after first going to Hamberg, Germany and landed in Fort Jackson, SC.  

Danny married Grace Tynes on December 20, 1989 at Ardmore, OK and she preceded him in death on May 8, 2002.  He then later married Linda Whitener on October 8, 2020.  


Preceding him in death were his parents; and his wife, Grace Arnold. 


Danny is survived by his wife Linda of the home, sons, Jimmy Arnold and Donnie Garner; stepdaughter, Rachel Hacker and husband Les; brothers, Jesse Arnold, Joe Arnold, and Paul Arnold; sister, Mary Steele; and by a host of other family and friends. 


Pallbearers will be Randy Bray, Jake Clayburn, Kody Helms, Michael Morris, and Jim McGaughy.  Honorary bearers will be Bobby Richardson, Danny Keck, and Gary Whitener.  


Visitation will be held Monday evening from 5-7 P.M. at Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.  Memories may be shared online at www.alexandergrayfh.com.
