LONE GROVE Services for Dixie Jo Howerton Herrell, 77, will be 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2007 at New Hope Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. David Gardner and Bro. Jimmy May officiating. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home.


Born Feb. 28, 1930 at Wilson to Roy and Ruth Elizabeth Cunningham Howerton, she died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007 at Ardmore. She married Melvin Borden "Buzz" Webb. He preceded her in death. She married James "Jim" D. Herrell April 23, 1973. He preceded her in death May 18, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Betty, Iris "Tiny" and Mary Lou; and three infant siblings.


Raised in Wilson and attending Wilson Schools, she married the late Melvin Burden "Buzz" Webb. They were married for 20 years, having four children, Larry, Lisa, Tina and Stacey. She was a very loving mother and grandmother, who loved to shop at WalMart and to eat out.


She and her husband, Jim, handcrafted willow furniture. She attended New Hope Freewill Baptist Church.


Survivors include one son, Larry Webb and his wife, Donna, Lone Grove; three daughters, Lisa Barbee and her husband, James, Lone Grove, Tina Daniels, Lone Grove, and Stacey Englehardt, Healdton; four stepdaughters, Cathy Gillispie and her husband, Eddie, Lone Grove, Christy Sudderth and her husband, Mike, Ardmore, Denise Thompson and her husband, Mike, Velma , and Diane Buck, Ardmore; one sister, Sandra Downs and her husband, Al, Ardmore; one brother, David Howerton and his wife, Charlene, Jimtown; 13 grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; numerous step-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.


Bearers are David Englehardt, Mike Sudderth, Cody Wood, Jacob Rose, Eddie Gillispie and Scott Renfro. Honorary bearers are Judd Bledsoe, Joey Brandenburg, Mike Thompson, Kevin Smith, Tim Downs, R.J. Howerton, Ty Downs, Chet Downs and Trysten Davenport.


Visitation is 3-5 p.m. today.
