Dora Jean Jones

Ringling - Celebration of Life services for Mrs. Dora Jean (Thompson) Jones, 75, of Ringling are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday August 11, 2022, at the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ with Bro. Billy Holder officiating. Interment will follow at the Ringling Memorial Cemetery. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Ringling.

Dora was born on April 2, 1947, at Lim Rock, Alabama to the late Mr. Robert "Babe" Aubrey Thompson and Mrs. Pauline (Gentle) Thompson. She went to her heavenly home on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at Ringling.

Dora was primarily raised at DeSoto, TX where she graduated high school in 1966. She married the love of her life, David Arthur Jones on Feb. 1, 1980, at Irving, TX. This union united two families, having a total of six children.

Dora was employed for Boeing of Las Colinas, most of her working years as the lead person within the Shipping Dept, retiring from there in 2003. At that time, they resided at Ovilla, TX where they enjoyed the country living, having a small farm. David and her made the move to Ringling in 2018 and have resided here since.

Dora loved doing arts and crafts, especially any type of bead work. She loved church and making sure every child had an Easter basket during the season. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, when she made sure everyone had a gift and would absolutely make sure that no one got more than the other. She had no favorites but genuinely loved everyone equally.

Her husband David preceded her in death on March 21, 2019. Also preceding her, was her parents; daughter, Peggy Meador; grandsons, Jesse Willeford and Richard "Bo" Holder; siblings, Billie Mason and Jerry Thompson.

Survivors include her children, Debby Handy of Midlothian, TX, Kevin Jones and wife Tammy of Hico, TX, Cindy Jo Holder and husband Billy of Ringling, Gerald Willeford of Ringling and Kenneth Willeford and wife Brandy of Larkinsville, AL; son in law, Jeff Meador of Montana; 20 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren; numerous other family, church family and friends.

Casket bearers will be Kenneth Willeford, Randy Simons, Robert Simmons, Joe Hunsaker, Weldon Simons and Gerald Willeford.

Honorary bearers will be Matthew Meador, Mason Meador and Josh Burnett.

Family visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Ringling.
