Douglas Porter Hodges

Ringling - Private family services for Mr. Douglas Porter Hodges, 89, of Ringling are scheduled at Ringling Memorial Cemetery. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Ringling. 

Porter was born Sept. 18, 1934 at Searcy, AR to the late Mr. Douglas Miller Hodges and Mrs. Clara Bell (Boise) Hodges. He crossed over on Tuesday evening,  Jan. 30, 2024 at his home in Ringling. 

Porter was raised primarily at San Angelo, TX moving back to Searcy his senior year of high school. There he graduated high school and soon found employment as an electrician apprentice at Ford Moto Co. Later in life he moved to Oklahoma City working as the maintenance person of the First National Bank. There he met and soon married the former, Georgia Lou Harris on Aug. 31, 1974 at Nuevo Laredo, Mex.

Eventually they made their home in Ringling, where Porter served the community for many years as the local HVAC, Electrician and Plumber repairman. When he wasn't working for homeowners or businesses, he loved being on his ranch farming and tending to his cattle. He was of the Methodist faith. 

Preceding him in death are his parents; wife Georgia, Sept 14, 2023 and a sister- Iris Riddle and her husband Alvin. 

Survivors include his daughter, Rusty Hodges of Ringling; son, Glynn Sears and wife Orwan of Lockesburg, AR; grandson, Douglas Levy of Hobbs, NM; special niece, Claudette Cox and husband Mike of Skiatook, OK;  4 nieces of the Texas area. numerous other family and friends. 

Casket Bearers are Butch Scifres, Glynn Sears, Charles Lockwood, Cole Lockwood, Judy Porter, Rusty Hodges and Claudette Cox. 

Honorary bearers will be Jack Porter, Jim Hood and Reagan Jones. 

The family would like to express their grateful thanks for all of his friends for their relationship, kindness and generosity given to Porter during his last days.
