Wilson - Celebration of life services for Mr. Edward Earl "Ed" McCauley are scheduled for 2:00 pm Sunday January 10, 2021 at Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Wilson with Rev. Terry Tolbert officiating. A private inurnment will take place following the services at Hewitt Cemetery of Wilson.
Edward Earl McCauley of Lone Grove passed away in Ardmore, OK on January 4, 2021 at the age of 76 years.
Ed was born in Fort Worth, Texas May 14, 1944 to Lawanna Williams Settles. After which, he was adopted by E.F. McCauley in 1953 to be his lifetime father. Lawanna and E.F. “Doc” McCauley and Ed lived in Andrews, Texas and later Stanton, OK area, later moving to the Wirt/Dundee area where Ed entered Dundee Elementary School. Later they relocated to the Wilson area where he graduated from Wilson High School in 1962. After graduation he attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University until early 1963.
Ed and Sue Snow McCauley were married on August 31, 1963 and shared 57 wonderful years. They resided and raised their family in Wilson, OK for 25 ½ years and then moved to Lone Grove, where he retired two years later.
Following completion of his third semester of college in Durant, OK, Ed relocated temporarily back to Wilson. In February,1964, he relocated to Oklahoma City area where he embarked on his lifetime employment with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as an unlocated cable splicer. In 1965 he transferred and took a located position in Durant, OK. In 1969 they moved back to Wilson and later moved to Lone Grove in 1994. He retired in 1997 with 33 years of service with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. After his retirement, he later worked at multiple businesses in the Ardmore area including Walmart, Auto Electric, and Ardmore Main Street Authority. He completely retired in 2019.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Doc and Lawanna McCauley and a favorite aunt, Arlene Williams.
Survivors include his loving wife, Sue McCauley, of the home, two daughters, and a son. Lesa and Adam Hefner of Comanche, OK, Donna and Ricky Roberts of Springer, OK and Charles McCauley of Sulphur, OK. Grandchildren, Amy and Josh Smith, Alyssa and Jordan Roberts, Jordan and Dyllon Hickman, Chance and Maria Roberts, Sarah Roberts, and Jace McCauley. Five great grandchildren, Case Smith, Mack Smith, Korie Roberts, Nolan Roberts and Kane Hickman. A sister, Gayla and Tracy “Red” Clour of Springer, OK.
