Eldon Lynn Davis

July 9, 1951 — March 4, 2024

Wilson- Home Going Services for Lynn Davis, 72, of Simon, are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Thursday, March 7, 2024, at the First Baptist Church in Wilson with Rev. Lawrence Anderson and Rev. Mark Fuller officiating. Interment will follow at Simon Cemetery south of Wilson. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.


Eldon Lynn Davis was born July 9, 1951, at Gainesville, TX to Mr. Eldon Bud Davis and Mrs. Oma Ruth (Morton) Davis. He crossed over Monday, March 4, 2024, at his home South of Wilson.


Lynn was a native of Love County residing there all his life. After graduating high school at Turner in 1970, he was employed with the Love County Maintenance Barn, driving a truck.  On Feb. 2, 1971, due to a truck malfunction, Lynn suffered the loss of his right leg. Since that time, he has persevered with determination and true grit and never considered himself disabled.  Lynn welded for Emmitt Morris, drove a Bull Wagon, water skied, ran equipment for Harold Lester and went endless miles trapping hogs with his cousin and dear friend, Mike Morton. He never slowed down, retiring from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation after 25 years of employment as a mechanic.


Lynn married the former Sue Ann Tucker on July 19, 2002, at the Saint Andrew Methodist Church in Plano, TX. They have resided happily south of Wilson, where you would often find Lynn working in the shop. Lynn was a member of the Eastman Baptist Church and had been attending worship services at the First Methodist Church of Wilson.


Preceding him in death is his father, Bud Davis, 1991; grandparents, Edgar, and Sis Morton; stepfather, Wayne Alexander and stepsister, Aletra Stuart.


Survivors include his mother, Oma Ruth Davis of Wilson; loving wife, Sue of the home; daughters, Christi Hallum and husband Lee of Enville, Kim Richardson and husband Eric of Ardmore and Staci McKinney and husband Clay of Marietta; stepdaughter, Kristin Nicholson and husband Jase of Oswalt; sister, Lynda Tynes and husband Jimmy Gale of Rubottom; stepbrother, Terry Alexander and wife Ellen of Grand Prairie, TX; grandchildren, Dylan, Jade, Kelsi, Hailey, Alice, Paisley, Waylon, Zack and Ryan; 6 great grandchildren; numerous other family and friends.


Casket bearers will be Lee Hallum, Clay McKinney, T.J. Tucker, Dylan Davis, Waylon McKinney, and Jase Nicholson.


Honorary bearers are Chance Tynes, Jimmy Gale Tynes, Mike Morton, Jerry Cain, Steve Tucker, and Bobby Tucker.


Family visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Wednesday evening at Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Wilson.
