Ervin "Newman" Walker

Mr. Ervin "Newman" Walker, of Fox, departed this life on Sunday, August 29, 2021 at his residence near Fox at the age of 88 years, 3 months, and 15 days. Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Thursday, September 2, 2021 at the Ratliff City Cemetery in Ratliff City with Rev. Carl Taylor officiating. Services are under the directions and care Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Ratliff City.

Newman was born on May 14, 1933 in Wilson, OK to the late Mr. Ervin Newman Walker, Sr. and Mrs. Mamie Louise (Robbins) Walker.

He was raised in the Fox area and attended Fox School, where he graduated in 1951. After graduation he moved to California for awhile working in the sugar factories. When he returned from California he went to work at Walker Grocery store as a mechanic until 1967 and then went to work for Fox Public School as a bus mechanic. He and Sue Hollingsworth were united in marriage on June 12, 1982 south of Fox. Together they have made their home in Fox ever since. Newman was a master wood craftsman and a mechanical genius. He enjoyed working with his hands and could build or fix anything. He enjoyed working in his yard and on his computer. He was a loving father and grandfather.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sons, Jimmy Walker, Brian Thacker, and Ervin Newman "Bud" Walker III; brothers, James Walker and Donnie Walker; and a grandson, Brice Thacker.

Newman is survived his wife, Sue (Hollingsworth) Walker of the home; children, Jon Walker of Fox, Brenda Walker of CO, Debbie Peck and husband Mickey of Velma, Terry Thacker of Velma, Alan Thacker of County Line; daughter in law, Virginia Walker of Fox; sister, Joyce Griffin and husband Kenneth of Fox; grandsons, Jason Bivings, and Dennis Thacker; granddaughters, Melissa Walker, Edith Summy, Dorinda Graham, Stormie Palmer, Carrie Taylor, Amanda Holbrook, Candice Stewart, Stacy Thacker, J.J. Cook, and Janie Walker; great grandsons, Jimmy Bivings, Braxton Palmer, Ricky Palmer, Kaden Reynolds, Dakota Martin, J.T. Bivings, Klay Vernon, Shawn Hughes, Seth Hughes, Gabriel Hughes, Wyatt Ahley, Cody Holbrook, Walter Jr. Stewart, Brogan Lakey, Blazin Lakey, Caleb Denny, Chris Thacker, Shane Thacker, Jared Thacker, Riley Hudman, Logan Elwood, Brian Elwood and Archer Elwood; great grand daughters; Danielle Vernon, Presley Reid, Trinidee Reynolds, Dallie Taylor, Shytanna Bivings, Abby Bivings, Isabell Bivings, Rachael Hughes, Chamberlyn Walker, Phoenix Lakey, Berklie Thacker, and Kylie Thacker; a host of other family and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons and great grandsons, Jimmy Bivings, Braxton Palmer, Ricky Palmer, Jason Bivings, Kaden Reynolds, Dakota Martin, J.T. Bivings, and Klay Vernon.

Honorary pallbearers will be, Shawn Hughes, Seth Hughes, Gabriel Hughes, Wyatt Ashley, Cody Holbrook, Walter Jr. Stewart, Brogan Lakey, Blazin Lakey, Caleb Denny, Dennis Thacker, Chris Thacker, Shane Thacker, Jared Thacker, and Riley Hudman.

Visitation will be held 6 - 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Ratliff City.
