Fern Grover

Lone Grove-Funeral Services for Mrs. Margaret Fern (Wallace) Grover, 83, of Lone Grove are scheduled for 10:00 AM Friday June 19, 2015 at Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson with Rev. David Gardner officiating. Interment will follow at the Lone Grove Cemetery.

Fern was born on Dec. 9, 1931 to the late Mr. Luke Washington Wallace and Mrs. Margaret Cattie (McNeely) Wallace. She went home to Jesus on Sunday, June 14, 2015.

Fern married Mr. Melvin Phillip Grover on April 16, 1949 at Gainesville, TX. She was a quiet lady who spent her life as a caregiver for her family and as an LPN at Mercy Hospital. She enjoyed reading, especially her Bible, and crocheting afghans for her loved ones. On a cool summer morning, she loved to go cast her fishing line into the pond for a fish. Then she would clean it herself and fry it up for supper. She was always caring for chickens and the stray dogs and cats that she swore she wouldn't keep. A hot afternoon rarely passed without her going out to give all her animals a fresh drink of ice water. She gave of herself to every child that walked in her home, whether it was reading a book, working with them on school work, cooking a wonderful meal, making doll clothes or just sitting under the big pecan tree having a picnic. She was well known for her hamburgers, turkey and dressing, banana bread and pies! She was a member of the Faith Heritage Pentecostal Church of Lone Grove.

Preceding her in death is her Parents; daughter, Melanie Lord on August 17, 2003; husband Melvin on July 30, 2013.

She is survived by her son, Bill Grover and his wife Kathy.Sisters, Hazel Nix and Peggy Robinson; sister in law, Mary Sue Chandler and husband Bobby;Granddaughter Amy Long and her husband Shane, Shane Grover and Amber Grover. Great grandchildren, Ashton, Aidan, Avin and Anson Long, Josh and his wife Victoria, Sadie, Amarah and Alyssa Grover.

Great-great grandchildren Briley and McKinley Grover and one more great great grandchild on the way;many nieces and nephews that she cherished as well.

Casket Bearers are Bill Grover, Shane Grover, Josh Grover, Shane Long, Joe Jacobs, Jeff Jacobs and Keith Rainey.
