Floy Evelyn Bates

Wilson - Funeral Services for Mrs. Floy Evelyn (Walker) Bates, 74 of Wilson, are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 5, 2021 at Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jason Williams officiating. Interment will follow to Bomar Point Cemetery.

Floy was born November 18, 1946 in Wilson, OK to the late Mr. Virgil A. Walker and Joanna (Hodges) Walker. She departed from this life on Sunday, October 31, 2021 in Healdton, OK.

Floy was raised in Wilson attending school here. She married the late Mr. Billy Bates, Sr. on December 22, 1961 in Wilson in her mother's living room. Together, they were blessed with 4 children, Tina, AnnaLee, Tammy and Billy Jr.. Floy worked the majority of her time at Jimmy D's Catfish in Wilson but she devoted most of her life as a homemaker. She enjoyed crocheting, baking and cooking, traveling with Connie, flowers, going fishing and she always looked forward to the annual family fish fry on the 4th of July. Floy was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wilson.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Billy in 2006; daughter, AnnaLee in 2017, and her brothers, George A. Walker and Thomas E Walker.

Floy is survived by her son, Billy Bates, Jr. and wife Sarah of Wilson; daughters, Tina Gaston and husband Robin of Lone Grove and Tammy Harris and husband David of Dickson; sisters, Jo Ann Miller of Wilson and Janie Peal and husband Rick; 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; special friend, Connie Key of Sulphur; and by a host of other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Billy Bates, Jr., John Flynn, Keith Taylor, Gage Foster, Jimmy Cross and Joanna Cormany. Honorary bearers will be Bruce Williams, Bobby Flynn, Robin Gaston, David Harris, and Shane Harris.

Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5-7 P.M. at Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.
