Freddie Lynn Morriss

June 21, 1947 — March 13, 2013

Ringling- Funeral Services for Mr. Freddie Lynn Morriss, Sr. 65, of Ringling are scheduled for 10:00 AM Monday, March 18, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Ringling with Rev. Alex Costea and Rev. Mike Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Ringling Memorial Cemetery in Ringling with Military Honors provided by the Chickasaw Honors Team. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling.

Fred was born June 21, 1947 at Council Bluffs, Iowa to the late Mr. Clarence Edward Morriss and Mrs. LuEllen Goldie (Kennedy) Morriss. He departed this life Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at his home in Ringling.

Fred was raised at Council Bluffs, Iowa. He joined the United States Army on Nov. 7, 1966 at Riverside, CA. He served honorably in the Vietnam War receiving his discharge on January 25, 1968. He married the former Ms. Rhea Lalicker on May 16, 1969 at 29 Palms, CA. Fred worked as a mechanic and machinist all of his working years. He and his family moved to Ringling in 1973 and have been residents of there since. Fred owned and operated his own Mechanics Shop in Ringling for many years and lastly was the mechanic for Joe Roberts Welding of Ringling retiring from there in 2003. He always enjoyed riding motorcycles and working on hot rods. He was a regular at the Coffee shop and enjoyed watching westerns, and he loved spending time with his grandkids. Fred always helped anyone who was in need and was a past member of the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Ringling.

Preceding him in death is his Parents; Brother, Danny Morriss and a grandson Kenan Gray.

Survivors include his wife Rhea of the home; Daughters, Sheila Gray and husband Ronnie, and Sherry Gray and husband Zane, all of Wilson; Sons, Kevin Morriss and companion Peggy Barbour of Ringling and Freddie Morriss, Jr. and companion Tina Wall of Lone Grove; 10 Grandchildren and 1 Great Grandchild; Siblings, Caroline Ellis of Iowa, Georgia Hurst and husband Butch, Sonny Morriss and wife Joyce all of Ringling, Larry Morriss of Oklahoma City, Nancy Jackson of Ringling, Sue Bailey and husband David of McKinney, TX, J.R. Morriss and wife Carolyn of Lone Grove, Frances Thompson and husband Larry of Bonham, TX, George Morriss of Fox and Cindy Orr of Bonham, TX; Numerous other family and friends.

Pallbearers are Harold Allen, Tommy Bryant, Lonnie Wallace, Tyler Barnes, Bobby Hurst, and Randall Henry.

Honorary Bearers are Sonny Morriss, Larry Morriss, J.R. Morriss and George Morriss.

Family visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Sunday at the funeral home in Ringling.
