Healdton - The life of Gerald Goodwin will be celebrated at Milo Baptist Church on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Paul Dean Martin officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Graham Cemetery following the service. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Wilson.

Gerald (Pete) David Goodwin, caring husband, father and papa, of Healdton, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Jan. 25, 2019 at the age of 82. He was surrounded by loved ones at the Porta Caeli House in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Gerald was born March 14, 1936, to Edgar Goodwin and Georgia (Johnson) Goodwin Lashley in Countyline, Oklahoma. He grew up with seven siblings in Graham, Oklahoma, where he was baptized at Graham First Baptist Church and active in the church choir. He graduated Graham High School in 1955. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1960. While stationed in Colorado, he met the love of his life Glenna Sue Caruthers. The two were married on May 24, 1961 in Graham, Oklahoma. They welcomed two beautiful daughters; Laurie Denise in 1962 and Rhonda Sue in 1965. Gerald worked in the oil field for most of his adult life. He worked for APCO, Gulf and ultimately retired from Chevron. He served on Graham’s school board for many years – even helped build new classrooms and a gymnasium, but he and Glenna made Healdton, Oklahoma, their home for more than 40 years. Gerald had a Servant's heart. He helped other people - family, friend or stranger – it was a major focus of his life. He was an avid fisherman and could often be found at Healdton Lake. He loved to garden, and his vegetables would land on friends’ and neighbors’ tables regularly.

Gerald is survived by his wife Glenna Goodwin, his daughter and son-in-law Denise and Rick Aikman of Skiatook, Oklahoma, his daughter and son-in-law Rhonda and Darryl Worsham of Austin, Texas, his grandsons Ryan and Blake Aikman, his granddaughters Bailey, Hannah and Isabella Worsham, his great-grandson Elijah Aikman, and many cousins, nephews and nieces.

He is preceded in death by his parents Edgar Goodwin and Georgia Goodwin Lashley, his brother Raymond Goodwin, his brother Hoyt Goodwin, his sister Wanda Jo Goodwin, his sister Opal Martin, his brother Jeff Lashley, his sister Faye Stephenson, and his sister Lavada May.

Pallbearers are Blake Aikman, Ryan Aikman, Billy Needham, Jordy Martin, Jacob Martin and James Martin.

Honorary Bearers are Bill Needham, Gerald Martin, Lonnie Clark, Harold Rozzell, Terral Stephenson, Rob Tidwell, F.A. Shellenberger and Larry Bruner.
