Wilson – Memorial Services for Mr. Ray Tapp, 68, of Wilson were held 2:00 p.m. Monday July 30, 2012 at the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel of Wilson, OK with Rev. Sherry Kendrick Officiating. Services were under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home and Crematory of Wilson.

Ray was born May 25, 1944 at Rubottom, Ok, to the late Mr. Glenn Erskin Tapp and Mrs. Essie Lorene (Kemp) Tapp. He departed this life Friday, July 27, 2012 at his home in Wilson.

Ray grew up in Wilson where he attended and graduated from Wilson High School in 1962. After graduation Ray moved to Oklahoma City where he was employed by the Oklahoma City Fire Department. Later he was employed by MIC, a division of General Motors Corp. as an adjuster. Ray spent a number of years as a consultant in several states for dealership turnovers. He later relocated to Harlingen, Texas where he was sales manager and finance officer for Knapp Chevrolet. In 1999, due to his health, Ray returned home to Wilson. He loved sports and his favorite pastimes were reading, playing golf and attending his church. Ray was a longtime faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Wilson.

Ray was preceded in death by both of his parents: Father Mr. Glenn Tapp March 21, 2008; Mother Mrs. Essie Tapp on June 10, 2010; and his only brother Mr. Bill Tapp on June 4, 1978.

Ray is survived by His only child, a daughter Sarah Tapp of Sugarland, Texas; His four sisters Celestine Sharp and husband Bob of Lone Grove, Barbara Yarbrough and husband Perry of Sherman, Tx., Lou Straughn and husband Glenn of Wilson, Ok. and Shirley Fitzsimmons and husband Barry of Moore, Ok. Numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial Donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 235, Wilson, Ok. 73463.
