Gwendolyn Llewellya (Thomas) Brooks

Gwendolyn Llewellya (Thomas) Brooks formerly of Ringling departed this life on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at her residence in Ardmore at the age of 83 years, 3 months, and 10 days. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Thursday, October 28, 2021 at the First Baptist Church of Ringling with Bro. John Spradlin officiating. Interment will follow at the Ringling Memorial Cemetery. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Ringling.

Gwendolyn was born on July 13, 1938 in Salem, OR to the late Mr. Edward Llewellyn Thomas and Mrs. Melba Gwendolyn (Bolles) Thomas.

She was raised in Salem and attended school there graduating with the Salem High School Class of 1956. She then attended a Baptist College in Littlerock, AR. Gwen worked for TWA airlines until marrying her husband Mr. Walter Brooks, Sr. on August 22, 1959 in Gardena, CA. Together they started a family and made their home in California, New Mexico, and Oregon until moving to the Ringling in 1970 to become ministers at the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Ringling. Gwen was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed attending sporting events to watch her children and grandchildren play. She was a excellent seamstress and helped make the uniforms for the first Ringling Blue Devil Flag Corp. Gwen had worked as a caregiver at the Ringling Nursing Home and private care. She later start working at Wal Mart and retired after 17 years of service. Gwen loved crossroad puzzles and reading. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Ringling.

Gwen is preceded in death by her parents; husband; Walter Brooks, Sr.; sons, Edward Brooks, and Walter Brooks, Jr. sons-in-law, Carl Wright and Gerrad Mitchell, mother and father in law, Melvin and Ruby Brooks.

She is survived her daughters, Elisabeth "Libby" Law and her husband Dave Jr. of Ringling, Pandora Wright of Healdton, Virginia Brooks of Ringling, Christa Belle Mitchell and her boyfriend Osy of Ardmore; son, Llew Brooks of Ringling; grandchildren, David, Rachel, Diedre, Zena, T.R., Ricky, Jessica, Steven, Samantha, Josey, Skiya, Lilly, Layven, Caysen and Wayden; Great grandchildren, Stephen, Kayliegh, Adah, Leena, Gideon, Johnathan, Katelynn, Victoria, Lexi, Kali, Colson, Dacoda, Ashlynn, Briar, Jace, Westen, Aubree, and Atlee; sister, Llewellya Harris of Merced, CA; sisters-in-law, Doris Baker and Pat Brooks and her Wal Mart family Store# 0129; many other relatives and a host of friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Layven Brooks, Ricky Austin, Steven Austin, Nathan Smith, Josh Purser, David Law, IV., and T.R. Hammons II

Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6-8:00P.M. Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Ringling.
