Hershel Leo Strawn

August 2, 1937 — April 16, 2014

Wilson- Funeral Services for Mr. Hershel Leo Strawn, 76, of Wilson are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, April 19, 2014 at the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel of Wilson with Bro. Jim Roebuck officiating. Interment will follow at the Ringling Memorial Cemetery in Ringling, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson, Oklahoma.


Hershel was born August 2, 1937 at Atlee, Oklahoma to the late Mr. Walter Sye Strawn and Mrs. Nora Belle (Allen) Strawn. He departed this life Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Wilson, Oklahoma.


Hershel was raised at Wilson and later moved to Ardmore where he graduated High School in 1955. Soon after graduating school he went to work in a sheet metal shop. Hershel married the former Barbara Nell Bradford whom he loved with all of his heart October 1, 1957 at Ardmore, Oklahoma. Together they were blessed with three children. He and Barbara moved to Garland, TX. in 1963 where they lived until he retired from Ford Motor Company in 1995. After retiring they moved back to Wilson, OK. that same year. Hershel enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working, gardening, lawn work, piddling in his shop and playing on the computer.


Preceding him in death are his Parents, Walter Strawn May, 1947 and Nora Belle Strawn Smith December, 1979; Brothers, Wilburn Strawn May, 2002 and George Strawn October, 2002.



Survivors include his Wife, Barbara Strawn of the home; Children, Carl Strawn and wife Donna of Garland, TX., Randy Strawn of Dallas, TX., Brenda Strawn Keifer and husband Kurt of Garland, TX.; 1 Grandson, Jason Strawn of Garland, TX.; 1 Granddaughter, Tiffiany Strawn of East TX.; Brother, Howard Strawn and wife Mary of Milo, OK..; Sister, Beatrice Harris of Ratliff City, OK.


Pallbearers are Jason Strawn, Larry Boothe, Kelby Gray, Blade Gray, Kurt Keifer and Rodney Cole.


Honorary Bearers are Billy Ray Hacker, Dub Bell, Benny Cartwright, Robert Brooks and Charley Smith.
