James Clinton Mccomber

Alma- Funeral Services for Mr. James "Jack" Clinton McComber, 85, of Ratliff City are scheduled for 10:00 AM Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at the Velma Assembly of God Church with Bro. Travis Stewart officiating. Interment will follow at the Alma Cemetery. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Ratliff City.


Jack was born July 2, 1929 at Newport to the late Mr. James Wesley McComber and Mrs. Cora Bell (Gillum) McComber. He departed this life Friday, October 17, 2014 at his home in Ratliff City.


Jack married the former Mary Naomi Ashley on March 24, 1948 at Gainesvill;e, TX. They moved to California where Jack began a lifelong career of Alfalfa Farming in the mountain country. He farmed and Ranched all of his life reisidng at California and Oklahoma.


Jack enjoyed working and making a living off the land. He was very innovative in developing new ways of farming and also had developed new grasses through the years of his work. He always had a farm in Oklahoma in which he loved to visit during summer months. His wife Mary Naomi preceded him in death on June 27, 2007. He later married the former Gladys Hilbers and she too preceded him in death on Jan. 5, 2010.


He married again to the former Mrs. Mary (Brown) Seward on June 27, 2012 at Ratliff City. They spent many happy days together. Jack enjoyed cooking, working on the land, dancing and being on his tractor. He enjoyed attending the Velma Assembly of God Church.


Also preceding him in death are his Parents; Daughter, Rita Covin; Brothers, Orville and Clarence McComber; and Sisters, Clara Gidden, Roxie Parks and Ozell Dragoo.


Survivors include his wife Mary Seward-McComber of the home; Sons, Bryant W. McComber and wife Francis of Ardmore and Rex A. McComber of Niland, CA; Stepchildren, Brian Fire and wife Katrina of Wellston, Rev. J.C. Seward and wife Crystal of Blytheville, AR, Lorinda Holtzclaw and husband Jesse of Duncan and Stacey Seward of Dardanelle, AR; 5 Granchildren, numerous great grandchildren and other family and friends.


Casket Bearers are Brian Fire, Jesse Holtzclaw, Stacey Seward and Rev. J.C. Seward.


Honorary Bearers are the Men of the Velma Assembly of God Church.


Family visitation will be Monday from 6 to 8 PM at Alexander Funeral Home of Ratliff City.
