James Ray Garrett

January 10, 1946 — March 3, 2020

Gainesville, TX - Memorial Service for Mr. James Ray Garrett, 74, of Gainesville are scheduled for 2:00P.M. Saturday, October 3, 2020 at the home of Zane and Sherry Gray. There will be a pot luck dinner after the service followed by cake and ice cream. Everyone is welcome to come. Please bring a mask if you wish. Cremation services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Wilson, OK.

James was born on Jan. 10, 1946 at Wichita Falls, TX to the late Mr. Eugene E. Garrett and Mrs. Lucille (Durbin) Garrett. He departed this life on Tuesday March 3, 2020 at a healthcare facility in Gainesville, TX.

James was raised in Wichita Falls, TX residing on several ranches. As an adult, he continued to work with cattle as a ranch hand and cowboy specializing as an AI Tech. James received his certification from AI school located in Garnett, KS. He also worked for James Wood at the ranch in Bridgeport, TX for several years. James always loved his dogs and working with cattle.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Mr. E.E. and Mrs. Lucille Garrett and brother-in-law, James Allen McKee.

Survivors include his companion for years, Carolyn (Gray) McKinnon of the home; children, Traci McDonald and husband Mike of Brashear, TX and Jackie Hankins and husband Doug of Troop, TX, and two other sons; sister, Evelyn McKee of Gainesville, TX; brother, Samuel Garrett of Azle, TX; 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandson; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
