James "Sonny" Franklin Whitener

Wilson- Memorial Services for Mr. James “Sonny” Franklin Whitener, 73, of Kingston are scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, May 2, 2014 at the Texoma Southern Baptist Church in Kingston, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home and Crematory of Wilson, Oklahoma.


James “Sonny” Franklin Whitener was born February 22, 1941 at Orr, Oklahoma to the late Mr. William Henry Whitener and Mrs. Iva Lee (Cross) Whitener. He passed from this life Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Ardmore, Oklahoma.


Sonny was raised at Orr moving to Madera, California in 1955 where he graduated High School. He married Dolores White March 21, 1959 at Madera, CA. . They moved back to this area residing at Velma and later at Wilson. While living in Wilson Sonny owned a full service Gas Station, the old Skelly Station on Main Street across from the Post Office and a mechanic shop nearby until he moved to Kingston in 1980. Sonny and Delores owned and operated the Enos Café in Kingston. He enjoyed living around Lake Texoma because he loved fishing. He liked horses and enjoyed gardening.


Preceding him in death are his Parents, William and Iva Whitener; Granddaughter, Jessica Marie Burris January 29, 2012 ; Sister, Thelma Whitener.


Survivors include his Wife, Dolores Whitener of the home; Daughters, Deborah Marshall and husband David of Wichita Falls, TX., Annette Nichols and husband Ronnie of Wilson, OK., Barbara Ashley and Larry Forsythe of Wilson, OK. , Deanne Macon and Brad McKinnon of Lone Grove, OK., Cynthia Burris of Kingston, OK.; 3 Sisters, Pauline Bailey and husband, Bob of Kingston, OK., Evelyn Tanner of Wichita Falls,TX. and Polly Smith and husband, Bill of Lebanon, OK.; 2 Brothers, Harold Whitener of Paoli,OK., Jerry Whitener and wife Mary of Somerset, KY.; 10 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren.



Honorary Bearers are Melvin Stover, G.W. Stover, Kenneth Green, William “Skeeze’ Macon, Larry Forsythe, Brad McKinnon, Ronnie Nichols and David Marshall.
