Janie L. Croan

Wilson – Funeral Services for Mrs. Janie Lu (Franklin) Croan, 78, of Wilson are scheduled for 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Wilson with Rev. Jason Williams officiating. Interment will follow at the Hewitt Cemetery in Wilson. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.

Janie was born Nov. 28, 1936 at Wichita Falls, TX to the late Mr. Curtis Elmo Franklin and Mrs. Viola Lee (Cambron) Franklin. She departed this life Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Mercy Hospital in Ardmore.

Janie was raised at Electra, TX attending school there. She initially attended Junior College at Odessa, TX and then finished her Bachelor’s degree of Elementary Education at the University in Denton, TX. She taught first graders for 33 years throughout three states, New Mexico, California and Texas, retiring in the early 90’s. Residing at Odessa she met Mr. Corkey Croan and they were united in marriage on March 9, 2002 at the Old Gymnasium in Wilson. They made their home in Wilson living happily together here. Janie always enjoyed watching the birds especially the hummingbirds. She enjoyed attending the Senior Citizens Center of Wilson and attending the Baptist Churches of Wilson.

Preceding her in death were her Parents; and a daughter, Carmen Melinda Croan.

Survivors include her loving husband Mr. Elmer Gene “Corkey” Croan, Sr. of the home; daughters, Tracy Winters and husband Time of Los Angeles, CA, Elizabeth Alexander of Boulder Creek, CA and Debra Ann Pitzer and husband Doug of Hutchinson, KS; sons, Butch Croan and wife Lillie of Frisco, TX, and Marc Croan and wife Carol of Midland, TX; 8 Grandchildren, Kristin Croan, Amy Pitzer, Stephanie Pitzer, Marcus Henry Croan, James Croan, John Croan, Eric Croan and Justin Pitzer; numerous other family and friends.

Casket Bearers will be Frank Carriker , Kenneth Bray, Ronnie Whatley, Jake Whatley, Jeff Whatley and Jarvis Whatley.

Honorary Bearers and are Marc Croan and Butch Croan.

Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Wilson.
