Jean Kemp

September 15, 1935 — January 11, 2021

Ardmore - Mr. Jean Kemp, 85 of Ardmore departed from this life on Monday, January 11, 2021 in Ardmore. He was born on September 15, 1935 in Hendrix, OK to the late Mr. Johnnie Kemp and Ms. Carrie Jefflo. Memorial services will be broadcast via Zoom at 1:00P.M. Saturday, February 6, 2021. Cremation services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.

Jean attended elementary school in Hendrix and graduated from Shoemake High School in Colbert. He was raised in the Baptist faith.

He married the love of his life, Ola Mae Lamey on August 1, 1964- a union that lasted 56 wonderful years. Jean was a quite man, a quality that many that knew him well found appealing. He was so pleasant to be around and always smiling.

He was also a hard working man, having worked for Montgomery Wards for 10 years, then Uniroyal for 25 years. After retiring from Uniroyal he returned to Montgomery Wards staying to help close the store. Jean could not stay idle. He enjoyed being around people, so he began employment with Ardmore Village Lodge and retired from there in 2014.

Jean and Ola loved traveling and taking tours to California, Old Mexico, Hawaii, Canada, Tennesse, the Bahamas, St. Thomas, and then took the USS Norway ship to their private island. Later, they toured Seattle, Washington, to British Columbia then on to a cruise to Alaska; Jean's hobbies included bowling, fishing, gardening, and taking care of his yard.

Jean will be missed by many, especially his friend and neighbor Joe and other neighbors.

Preceding him in death are his parents.

Jean is survived by his loving wife, Ola Mae of the home; sisters, Lois Turner of Colbert and Edna Mae Childs of Ft. Worth, TX; two nieces Doris Davis and husband Mike and Sheila Turner; nephew Carlton Turner; and by a host of cousins and friends.

He leaves behind also his close and dearly beloved dog, Buster who watched all the Oklahoma City Thunder and Dallas Cowboy games right alongside him. Jean was dearly loved and we will all miss him.
