Jerry Lee Hawkins, Sr.

Wilson - Funeral Services for Mr. Jerry Lee Hawkins, Sr., 85 of Wilson are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Fuller officiating.  

Jerry was born May 9, 1937 in Santa Barbara, CA to Mr. Leonard Friday Hawkins and Mrs. Vivian Annette (Webb) Hawkins Penwell.   He departed from this life on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at his home.   

Jerry was raised in Casitas Springs, CA attending school in Ventura, CA.  In his earlier years, he worked for the Thatcher Schools in Ojai, CA as a gardener.  In 1982, he married Ms. Sandra Smith on January 9 in Las Vegas, NV.  Later that year, they moved to Oklahoma where he was employed for Diamond B Ranch, later for the Northwestern University when he retired in 1995.  This left time for him to really enjoy fishing, camping, and spending time with his family and cooking for them.  Jerry really enjoyed aggravating everyone but would include a big hug and a kiss on the forehead.  One of the things that Jerry made sure of was taking care of his wife and making her breakfast every morning for her and catered to her every need.  Jerry was a great man that never met a stranger. 

Preceding him in death were his parents; sister, Nadine Johnson and an infant son. 

Jerry is survived by his wife, Sandra; children, David Hawkins, William Hawkins, Jerry Hawkins, Jr. and wife Michelle, Pamela Riley and husband Jason, Richy Hawkins and wife Tracie, Melvin Hawkins and wife Cara, and Harold Hawkins and wife Terra; sister, Patricia McGuire; brother, Ronald Hawkins and wife Sue; Les Bedwell and wife Stephanie who he considered a son; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and by a host of other family and friends. 

Visitation will be held Monday evening from 6-8 P.M. at Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson. 

In Lieu of Flowers, donations may be made on the crowdfunding account to help with funeral expenses for Jerry.
