Mr. Jimmie Ray Stepp, of Broken Arrow, departed this life on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa at the age of 82 years, 7 months, and 24 days. Jimmie was born on October 6, 1940, in Ringling, Oklahoma to the late Mr. James Russell Stepp and Mrs. Ollie Marie (Sullivan) Stepp.

Mr. Stepp was raised at Loco and attended school at Mountain Home until his sophomore year and then graduated from Ringling High School. He attended Oklahoma A&M in Stillwater and Murray State College. Shortly after he was drafted into the United States Army and proudly served his Country as a Staff Sergeant, he received an Honorable Discharge. Jim then moved to Oklahoma City, beginning a career in trucking. He eventually moved to Lone Grove where he lived for about 20yrs, raising 3 sons and enjoying as many football and baseball games as he could attend. He and the former Ms. Faye Christmas were united in marriage on February 11, 1989, in Tulsa. They have celebrated 33 wonderful years residing in Broken Arrow. Jim retired from Ellsworth Motor Freight, serving as the Vice President of Operations. He always told his sons, usually while they were pulling weeds and tilling their 1-acre sized garden, that hard work, education and perseverance is how you get ahead in life. To that end, he helped his sons start a hay hauling business which they successfully ran for 4 summers during their high school years – lots of hard work, lots of perseverance, lots of hay and boy was it educational! He loved to work around the house, dance, golf, garden and attend family events. He was proud to be an all-American Grandfather.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents; son, Kenny Stepp; brothers, Joseph David Stepp, Jerry Dean Stepp, George Stepp, Russell Ezell Stepp and Dr. Jesse Carl Stepp; sisters, Doris Blassingame, Gladys Hutcheson and Florence Engelhardt.

Mr. Stepp is survived by his loving wife Faye (Atwell) Stepp of the home; sons, “Jr.” Jimmy Stepp Jr., and wife Cheryl of Lone Grove, Brian Stepp and wife Angela of Georgetown, TX; daughters, Sherri Barnett and husband Brad of Bixby, Teri White of Broken Arrow, Chrystal Fry and husband Kelly of Broken Arrow; grandchildren, Haley, Madison, Joshua, Cheyanna, Kenny Jr, Michael, Dustin, Donavon, Carmon, Keith, Caleb, Sean, Garrett, Kaylie, Daniel, and Heather; numerous great grandchildren; sisters, Fern Kirkpatrick of Fox, Sonja Stepp of Newcastle, Carolyn Martin and husband Raymond “Chick” of Stillwater, brother, Raymond Stepp of Blanchard; many nephews, nieces, other relatives and a host of friends.
