Joe Edward Charter

Countyline – Graveside Services for Mr. Joe Edward Charter, 96, formerly of Countyline are scheduled for 2:00 pm Wed. August 20, 2014 at Tussy Cemetery with Rev. Sid Bazzrea officiating. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Ratliff City.

Mr. Joe Edward Charter was born January 28, 1918 at Countyline to the late Mr. William Brooker Charter and Mrs. Charlotte Coleman (Harmon) Charter. He departed this life Saturday, August 16, 2014 at the Lawton VA Center.

Mr. Charter was raised at Countyline being 1 of 10 children. During WWII he joined the United States Navy and served actively for 5 months when the War was declared to be over. Mr. Charter married the former Roberta Ernestine Jump on March 27, 1940 at California. To this union 6 children were born, Luvata, Joe Jr., Margie, Shirley, Sandra and Richard.

Joe worked as a contract roofer most all of his working years and has resided at Countyline. He attended the Countyline Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death are his Parents; Siblings, Mary Lee, Bage, Dick, Bob, Louise, Opal, Tommy and 1 infant Stillborn; Children, Luvata, Margie, Shirley and Joe Jr. and 1 Granddaughter – Robbie Charter

Survivors include his Children, Sandra Fox and husband Jim of Tulsa, Richard Charter and wife Helen of Amarillo, TX, Misti Davis and Joe Solomon of Duncan and Michelle Michael and husband Richard of Ardmore; Siblings, Nancy Fries of Elephant Butte, NM and Geneva Black of Enid; 12 Grandchildren, 34 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great Great Grandchildren; 24 Nieces and Nephews and a host of Great and Great Great Nieces and Nephews.

Pallbearers are Joe Solomon, Richard Michael, Ron Sullivan, Chris Stark, Ryan Bunda and Justin Stark.

Honorary Bearers are James Tole, Frank Condra, Jim Fox and Jimmy White.

Family visitation will be held 11am to 1 pm Wed., August 20, 2014 prior to service time at Alexander Funeral Home of Ratliff City.
