John Luther Kennedy

Wilson – Funeral services for Mr. John Luther “Jack” Kennedy, 85, of Wilson are scheduled for 3:00 PM Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel of Wilson with Chaplin Major Dustin Kennedy officiating. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.


John “Jack” was bon September 4, 1926 In Lone Grove, Ok to the late Mr. Carter Waterman Kennedy and Mrs. Dince (Pierce) Kennedy. He departed this life Saturday June 16, 2012 at a health care facility in Ardmore.


John “Jack” was born and raised in Lone Grove, attending school there. He married Miss Violet Moore in Ardmore before being drafted into the U.S Army in 1944. Serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He then went to work for OK Natural Gas for 37 years retiring in 1985. He loved being outdoors- working in his garden, hunting fishing, camping and playing cards and dominoes. He was well known for selling his pecan pies.

Preceding him in death are his parents, daughter – Sue Thompson, Brothers- Willie Buddy, Bryant , Clifton, Joe, Delbert, Bobby, Roy, Carter and Sisters Letha and Nancy.

Survivors include his wife of the home Mrs. Violet Kennedy, Daughter Carolyn Roberts and husband Jay of Ardmore, Sons, Wayne Kennedy and wife Darlene of Ardmore, David Kennedy of Ardmore, Sister Edna Lathum and husband Tucker of Springer, Grandchildren; Dustin, Kim, Tony, Amy, Kelsey, Kaci, Kade, Kelly, Brenda, Donald, Donna, C.W., Lonnie and Tammy as well as numerous great grand children.

Pallbearers are Tony Roberts, Shane Richardson, David Putman, Randy Putman, Brian Putman and Jimmie Lathum.

Family Visitation will be from 6 – 8 PM Monday evening at the funeral home in Wilson.
