November 13, 1932 — July 1, 2020

A gathering of family and friends was held for JW Rhodes on June 25, 2020 at his beside in his home before going to be with Jesus on July 1, 2020. Dewayne and Marilyn Jennings were in charge as ministers of music and bringing forth the word. Earlier JW was presented with some special "Thank You's" from the United States Veterans ( a blanket, certificate, and beautiful lapel pens)

Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Healdton was very gracious caretakers of our loved one.

JW was born November 13, 1932 in Anson, TX to the late Mr. Charles R. Rhodes and Mrs. Irene B. (Crews) Rhodes.

JW was raised in California around Bakersfield and Salinas until he was 17 years of age, when he joined the United States Army. He served in Korea where he was injured and after treatment he was voluntarily discharged.

He found employment in the oilfields as a rough neck, construction, storage units, and entertainment; singing and playing guitar in a band in Idaho. He traveled wherever the work was from California to Florida. He married approximately 1951 and from that union came a beautiful daughter, Rhonda Wickland of Idaho.
He married again to Barbara Rhodes and upon moving to Healdton attended the Healdton Assembly of God Church. Barbara went to be with the Lord , April 2000

In November 2000 he married Donna Petree and she then moved from California to Healdton. They became members of the Healdton Assembly of God Church and also New Life Assembly. There were great memories, especially the trip to Cibicu. Our thanks goes to Pastors John Harris and Quenton Newton. JW had many friends and never met a stranger.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Charles and Irene Rhodes; two sisters, Kathleen Selkegg and Edith Rhodes; two brothers, Charles Rhodes and Ray Rhodes; a infant son, Michael Rhodes; grandson, Jason Shepherd and granddaughter, Amber Rhodes.

He is survived by his wife of the home, Donna Jean Rhodes; daughter, Rhonda Wickland and husband Rob of Idaho; Terrie Nelson and husband John of Oregon; son, Rick Rhodes and wife Joann of TN; son, Stuart W. Rhodes and wife Donna of LA; three more sons and their wives, Jim and Pat Petree of Gardnerville, NV; Brian and Carrie Petree of Marco, CA, Rick and Kim Petree of Selma, CA; together JW and Donna had 22 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild; brother, Paul Rhodes and wife Shirley of OR; nephew Keith Herring and wife Vanessa of AZ; many other nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

There was no one like JW. He was loved much and will be missed terribly, looking for Jesus return.

Memorial Services will be scheduled at a later date.
