Kathryn Marie Freeman

Wilson- Services for Kathryn Marie Freeman, 79, of Lucedale, Mississippi, are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Friday, May 19, 2023, at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson with Rev. Mike Johnston officiating. Interment will follow at Bomar Point Cemetery.


Kathryn was born March 8, 1944, at Sulphur Springs, Texas to the late Mr. Vernon Jesse Tucker and Mrs. Pauline (Cumby) Tucker. She departed this life Thursday, May 11, 2023, at her home in Lucedale.


Kathy attended school at Wilson most of her life, moving to Antlers for her Junior Year and returned to Wilson for her Senior year where she graduated. She went on to further her education at a Business College in Oklahoma City. Kathy married Mr. John Curtis Jr. and to this union she was blessed with a daughter and a son. The couple made their home in Edmond where they had a beautiful country home and she worked for Central State Bank. Kathy moved to Richardson, Texas in 1984, where she worked for a couple of banks in the accounting and bookkeeping departments. She was also employed for FDIC, working on bank closings and auditing. Kathy later retired from her long-time career at World Omni Financial Corporation for Toyota, in 2006. She had a deep passion and love for the beautiful quilts she has made.  Kathy loved gardening, canning, sewing, and many other things including her beloved cat, Patches who was very dear to her. Her strength, courage, and perseverance were admirable to all who knew her.


Preceding her in death are her parents, Vernon and Pauline; sister, Betty and brother, Charles.


Survivors include her son, John Curtis III of Pilot Point, TX; daughter, Shelly VanHouten and husband Tim of Big Fork, Montana; grandchildren, Clayton, Wyatt, Brooke, and Taylor Henrichson, John “Thiele” Curtis IV and Luke Curtis; great grandchildren, John Thiele Curtis V; special friend, Allen Parnell along with his daughters, Susan Parnell and Neice Williams all of Lucedale, Mississippi; nieces and nephews, Brent Morse, Preston Tucker, Janelle Tuel, Matthew Tucker, and Amanda Tucker; numerous other family and a host of friends.


The pallbearers will be Clayton Henrichson, Wyatt Henrichson, Cody Morse, Thiele Curtis, Tanner Hartman, and Scotty Morse.


Honorary bearers are John Curtis Jr. and Eddie Morse.
