Kenneth Earl Wright

August 3, 1932 — February 4, 2014

Leon – Graveside Services for Mr. Kenneth Earl Wright, 81, of Marietta are scheduled for 1:00 PM Thursday, February 6, 2014 at the Leon Cemetery with Rev. Johnny Young officiating. Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.

Earl was born August 3, 1932 at Leon to the late Mr. Frank W. Wright and Mrs. Axie E. (Hooker) Wright. He went to be with the Lord Tuesday morning February 4, 2014 at Marietta.

Earl was born as a 15 pound infant and was said to be the largest baby born in Love County at the time. He was raised on his parent’s farm in Leon and always loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing on the red river. He worked the family farm until 1968 when he then moved to Wilson to work in the Oilfield. He ran a backhoe and heavy equipment company for several years and also before retiring he worked offshore. He loved to go to the creek with his longtime fishing buddy Ricky Armstrong, taking their campers and trot lines, he spent many happy hours on Hickory creek.

Earl lived most of his life here in Oklahoma except a short period in 1950 when he moved to California. He loved his family and wife very much. He and Barbara liked to camp on Lake Murray and nothing made him happier than all the kids and grandkids to come out and eat fish. Earl was a loving father and Grandpa to his children, always concerned with their happiness and well being. He loved when one of his boys would call him up and say “go with me in the truck”. He would always go and later talk about it for days. He loved all of his kids very much.

After Earl retired from the Oilfield, he went into the cattle business for awhile when Mr. Meeks could no longer run the farm. This was some of his happiest moments in life spending hours with the cows every day. He always loved to share the news of the new baby calves.

He was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church of Marietta, being baptized there professing his love for the Lord. Earl will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was welcomed into Heaven by his family whom he missed and adored for many years.
