L.J. Luther James Chapman

Graveside Rites for Mr. L.J. “Bob” Chapman, 81 of Courtney are scheduled for 10:00 AM Saturday, September 7, 2013 at the Belleville Bourland Cemetery of Courtney with Rev. Ronnie Carroll and Rev. Nick Ellis officiating. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling.

L.J. was born May 7, 1932 at Rocky, OK to the late Mr. John Chapman and Mrs. Minnie Myrtle (Barnes) Chapman. He departed this life Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Ardmore, OK.

L.J. was a resident of Courtney most of his life where was raised and graduated from Courtney High School. He married the former Carol Black on October 31, 1953 at Gainesville, TX. They had 5 children together. They resided a short time in Ardmore returning to Courtney in 1970. He was a very devoted husband and a very loving father to his children and a loving “PaPa” to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. L.J. was a member of the Gospel Tabernacle of Ringling.

Those who preceded him in death is his loving Wife, Carol Jean Chapman on August 10, 2008; Parents, John and Myrtle Chapman; Daughter Carla Colece; Sister Christine; and Brothers, Woodrow, Glenn, Jim, Bill and Gene.

Survivors include his son Larry of Courtney; 3 Daughters, Cindy Rose of Ringling, Tammy Holder and husband Dennis of Chickasha and Shelly Milson and husband Larry of Ardmore; Brother in law, Gale Black and wife Charlene of Courtney; Grandchildren, Roy Bob Branch and wife Courtney, Kimmie Wilson and husband Bo’don, Summer Phelps and husband Jason, Courtney Baird and husband Chuck and Cody Rose; 5 Step grandchildren, Kari Sanchez, Amy Milson, Chris Holder, Casey Holder and Candace Holder; Great Grandchildren, Colton Branch, Kinsey Branch, Justtice Wilson, Chloe Phelps, Jakob Wilson, Tamyrn Baird and Jonathan Baird; Step Grandchildren, Mekenzie Sanchez, Braden Holder, Luke Holder, Christa Holder and Matthew Baird; Special Friends, Sally Walker, Harvey and Retha Grant and Charlotte Camp.

Pallbearers are Roy Bob Branch, Cody Rose, Jason Phelps, Bo’don Wilson, Chuck Baird, Chris Holder and Michael Sanchez.

Honorary Bearers are Harvey Grant, Gale Black, Tankie Spivey, Bill Carr, Jimmy Dodson, Larry Blankenship, Cotton Grant, and Bryan Spivey.

Family visitation will be held from 5pm to 8 pm Friday evening at the funeral home in Ringling.
