Mary Kathern Yell

Davis - Celebration of Life Services for Mary Kathern Yell of Lone Grove will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, Nov.8th, 2021 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Davis, OK with Pastor Johnny Tonihka officiating. Interment will be at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Wilson.

It is with heavy hearts the family of Mary Kathern Yell announce her passing on Nov. 3rd, 2021 at the age of 84 years.

Mary Kathern was born on July 14th, 1937 in Milburn, OK to the late Sherman and Lula Raper. Mary Kathern was a graduate of Davis High School. She worked many years in the health profession as a Dietician in Vinita, OK as she raised her children. After her children left home, she attended East Central University and received a Nursing degree. She worked at Adventist Hospital in Ardmore as Director of Nursing until she retired.

Mary Kathern loved to cook for family during the holidays, where homemade rolls and brown beans were always a staple. She had many hobbies which included gardening, knitting, and painting. Toward the end of her life, painting for her family and friends became her passion. Her love for arts and gardening will live on.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband James Horton Yell “Jimbo”, parents Mr. Sherman and Lula Raper, brother Sherman Junior Raper, her daughter, Pamela Sue Eaves and a son- in-law Robert Owens.

Mary Kathern’s memory will be forever cherished by her children: Danny and wife Dawn Eaves, Sherry Owens, Brenda Tanner, and Jimmy and wife Elizabeth Yell; brothers: Conrad and wife Judy Raper, David and wife Janie Raper, and Jerry Don and wife Glenna Raper; sister in law, Betsy Harris Tackett and husband Ken; grandchildren: Amy and husband Louis Mitchell, Kandace and husband Brian Smith, Travis and wife Aimee Cantrell, Brandon Sparks, Clint and wife Jessica Eaves, Tyler Cantrell and wife Whitney, Emily Tanner, Adam and wife Caitlin Collamore, Whitney Collamore, Grady James Cole Yell, Brayson Martin, and Taylor Martin, Margaret and Carey Holt, Lindsey Schlatter; and numerous great grandchildren which she loved dearly.


Casket bearers are Travis Cantrell, Tyler Cantrell, Brandon Sparks, Clint Eaves, Brian Smith and Dusty Raper.

Honorary Bearers will Todd Jessen, David Raper, Jerry Raper and Conrad Raper.

Family visitation will be held on Sunday from 4pm to 6pm at Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Wilson.
