Marylan Ann (Watkins) Gentry

Wilson - Funeral Services for Mrs. Marylan Ann (Watkins) Gentry, 72, of Wilson are scheduled for 2:00 PM Monday, May 25, 2015 at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson with Rev. Jason Williams officiating. Interment will follow at the Hewitt Cemetery in Wilson.

Marylan was born December 14, 1942 at Marietta to the late Mr. D.E. “Bud” Watkins and Mrs. Rosalea (Purnell) Watkins. She departed this life Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at her home in Wilson.

The majority of Marylan’s school years were spent attending Wilson. Graduating from Wilson High School in 1960. Initially Marylan worked as a waitress at Lake Murray. Later she joined her best friend Pat Lamascus, where she began and attended a Business College. After graduating Marylan started a career as a stewardess for American Flyers Airline Company of Ardmore. In 1963, she met the love of her life, Terry D. Gentry and they were soon married on October 5, 1963 at the Pentecostal Holiness Church of Wilson by Bro. Dodd. They resided at Palmyra, PA., Muskogee, Ardmore, Enid, and back home in Wilson in 1972. After returning to Wilson, Marylan worked for Steele’s Grocery, Bullard’s Oilfield Service, and Hulls oilfield Service as secretary until 1999 when she retired to help keep her grandkids.

Marylan is Preceded in death by her Parents; her husband, Terry Gentry May 18, 2010; Sisters, Claudene Watkins and Artie Cross; Brother in law, Jackie Cross; and a Niece, Linda Banks.

Survivors include Two daughters, Crystal Gentry and Cara Stubbs and husband Bobby all of Wilson; Son, Darren Gentry and wife Shellie of Wilson; Sister, Gloria Smith and husband Zack of Yukon; Sisters in law, Rose Dorman and husband Kenny of Wilson, Beverly Dye and husband Ernest of Quitman, TX, Lisa Billingsley and husband Wendall of Wilson; Brother in law, Roger Gentry and wife Debra of Corpus Christi, TX; Grandchildren, Derek Gentry, Kadie Gentry, Logan Stubbs, and Brady Stubbs; Special friends, Pat Hodges, Corine Doddridge, Sylvia Rounsville, and Joy Freeman; numerous other family and friends.

Casket Bearers are Dewey Smith, Scotty Smith, Billy Bob Cross, Eric Banks, Kyle Banks, and Kyle Sullivan.

Honorary Bearers are Jason Pittman, Chris Graham, and Jason Wright.

Family visitation will be held from 4 pm to 6 pm Sunday at Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.
