Melba Marie Hunt

Wilson - Graveside Services for Mrs. Melba Marie (Brown) Hunt, 92, of Wilson are scheduled for 10:00 AM Friday April 26, 2019 at Hewitt Cemetery of Wilson with Rev. Jim Duck. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Wilson.

Melba was born July 5, 1926 at Big Sandy, TX to the late Mr. J.T. "Jake" Brown and Mrs. Ima Mae (Ellison) Brown. She departed this life on Monday evening April 22, 2019 at the Wilson Nursing Home.

Melba was raised at Big Sandy, TX as the only daughter of Jake and Ima's. She married Mr. James "Bud" A. Hunt at the age of 16 on July 18, 1942 at Quitman, TX. Bud served overseas during WWII and during this time, Melba stayed with her parents until his return home. They remained in Texas until moving to Healdton in 1952, where they resided for many years.

Melba worked primarily outside of her home at several local business and was a seamstress at the Pants Factory. She and Bud loved going camping and fishing on Lake Texoma, living at Lebanon for a short while. Bud preceded her in death on March 4, 2004. Since then, Melba has continued to reside at Wilson where she always enjoyed attending the Seniors Citizens Center. She also enjoyed her daily trips to the Sonic with her friend Dorothy Dewitt. Melba was a past member of the Freewill Baptist Church of Healdton.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; favorite son in law, Donnie Tibbs and several cousins.

Survivors include her one daughter, Joan Tibbs of Wilson; sons, Marshall Hunt and wife Linda of Lone Grove and Wiley Hunt and wife Robin of Sapulpa; seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren; numerous other family and friends.

Honorary Bearers Allen Tibbs, Jeff Hunt, Jay Hunt, Sam Porter and David Doughty.

Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm Thursday evening at Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Wilson.
