Melvin Phillip Grover

Wilson – Funeral Services for Mr. Melvin Phillip Grover, 86, of Lone Grove are scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Friday, August 2, 2013 at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel of Wilson with Rev. Leo Potts officiating. Interment will be in Lone Grove Cemetery. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.

Melvin was born May 7, 1927 at Lone Grove , Oklahoma to Mr. William Phillip Grover and Mrs. Linnie Ola (Simpson) Grover. He passed from this life July 30, 2013 at his home in Lone Grove, Oklahoma.

Melvin was raised in Lone Grove, OK. where he attended school . He married the former Margaret Fern Wallace April 16, 1949 at Gainesville, TX. and they recently celebrated 64 years of marriage. Melvin lived most of his life in Lone Grove except for the years he worked in the Oilpatch as a Toolpusher for Noble Drilling over the Rocky Mountains. He worked 7 years as a Deputy for Carter County under Sheriff Robert Denney. Melvin’s most enjoyable hobbie was taking care of his cows. He was a devoted Christian and a member of Faith Heritage Pentecostal Church of God in Lone Grove.

Preceding him in death are his Parents; Daughter, Melanie Lord August, 17, 2003;Sisters, Valree Karr and Louvene Lucus.

Survivors include his Wife, Margaret Fern Grover of the Home; Son, Bill Grover and wife Kathy of Lone Grove, Ok.; Grandchildren, Amy Long and husband Shane of Ardmore,OK., Shane Grover and wife Kendra ofLone Grove, OK., Amber Grover of Lone Grove, OK.; 8 Great Grandchildren;1 Great Great Granchild; Sister, Mary Sue Chandler and husband Bobby of Ardmore, Ok.; Numerous other Family and Friends.

Pallbearers are Bill Grover, Shane Grover, Josh Grover, Shane Long, Joe Jacobs and Jeff Jacobs.
