Michael Lynn Sparks

Wilson - Funeral Services for Michael Lynn Sparks, 55, of Wilson are scheduled for 2:00 PM Wed. January 22, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Wilson with Rev. Mike Johnston and Alan Buck officiating. Interment will follow at the Hewitt Cemetery at Wilson. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.

Mike was born August 11, 1958 at Bristow, OK to the late Mr. Donnie Rad Sparks and Mrs. Clara Belle (Clayton) Sparks. He departed this life Saturday January 18, 2014 at his home in Wilson.

Mike moved to this area in the fall of 1971 and attended his eighth grade year of school at Zaneis. After graduating from Junior High he attended school at Wilson and graduated High School in 1976. He attended college at Murray and spent most of his working years in the oilfield. He roughnecked before helping run his family’s business, Sparks Logging and Perforating, and most recently co-owned and operated an oilfield transport business with his son Dylan.

Mike was always very competitive at everything he did, especially sports. He enjoyed all kinds of sports and was a big OSU and OU fan. He always liked being the winner. He adored his kids and enjoyed all of his family. Mike attended the First Baptist Church of Wilson.


Preceding him in death are his Parents, Donnie and Clara Sparks.


Survivors include his 2 Sons, Dylan Sparks of Ringling and Beau Sparks of Oklahoma City; Brothers, Roy Sparks of Wilson and Kevin Sparks and wife Charl of Davis; Nieces and nephews, Whitney Gibbs, Taylor Sparks, Luke Sparks, Layne Vinson, Lea Smith and husband Emmanuel Addison Gibbs and a special friend, Judy Van Eaton for whom Mike and the family loved dearly for her dedicated care and genuine love during his illness.


Casket Bearers are Jimmy White, Mike Shores, Gene Clayton, John Thompson, Bobby Price, Mark Mercer, Billy Wilkinson and Jay Goode.


Honorary Bearers are the Wilson High School Class of 1976.


Memorial donations in memory of Mike are asked to be sent to the Hewitt Cemetery Association PO BOX 360 Wilson, OK 73463.


Family visitation will be held from 6- 8 P.M. Tuesday evening at the funeral home of Wilson.
