Michael Murphy

Wilson - Graveside services for Mr. Michael Murphy, 68 of Wilson are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at the Bomar Point Pavilion with Rev. Charles Newell officiating and Micah Newell assisting. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.

Michael was born December 18, 1951 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Mr. Joseph Murphy and Mrs. Dorothy (Garone) Murphy. He departed from this life on Sunday, November 22, 2020 in Ardmore.

Michael grew up in New York until his high school years his family moved to New Jersey. He joined the United States Navy after graduating high school and proudly served his country during Vietnam. Michael loved football and was an avid New York Giants fan. He had lived in Wilson off and on for 10 years from Plainfield, NJ. Michael married the former Cindy Hardy in Wilson on December 18, 2017. He was a previous member of the Elks Lodge in Plainfield, NJ and was of the Catholic faith.

Preceding him in death are his parents; brother, Robert Murphy and a sister, Dorothy Murphy.

Michael is survived by his wife, Cindy of the home; his children, Kelli McKinnon and husband Bruce of Annadale, NJ and Megan Murphy of Plainfield, NJ; Cindy's children, Tracy Johnson and wife Deb of Ardmore, Gerrilynn Raymond of Ringling and James Fisher of Graham, OK; 3 grandchildren; Cindy's 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; brother, Joe Murphy of Tega Cay, SC; mother in law, Gerry Hardy of Wilson; and by a host of other family and friends.
