Wilson- Funeral Services for Mrs. Mollie Belle (Alexander) Smithers, 101, of Ardmore are scheduled for 10:00AM Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel of Wilson with Bro. Robert “Bob” Lee officiating. Interment will follow at Lebanon Cemetery. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson

Mollie Belle was born October 27, 1910 at Ennis, TX to the late Mr. Robert Denny Alexander and Mrs. Beatrice Jasmine “Jessie” (Coffman) Alexander. She departed this life Friday June 15, 2012 at a healthcare facility in Ardmore.

Mollie Belle was raised in Texas not moving to Wilson until the age of 14. She graduated from Wilson High School in the late 20’s and married Mr. John Dugan Smithers, Sr. on September 11, 1931 at Sulphur. They soon made their home in Ardmore living there the rest of their life. Mollie was a very devoted and caring wife and mother. She always wanted to be a teacher and was not able to attend college, so she provided private tutoring at her home for many. She enjoyed attending picnics and also enjoyed attending church at the First Orthodox Baptist Church of Ardmore.

Preceding her in death are her Parents, Husband, John Dugan Smithers, Sr. – September 2, 1977; Brothers, Dan, Bill and Ernest Alexander; Sister, Bernice Alexander; Son, Dugan Smithers, Jr. – 1999; Grandson, John Dugan Smithers, III- 1994 and a Granddaughter, Melissa Gaither – 2009.

Survivors include a Daughter, Judy Ferrell and husband Odell of Butler; Son, Darrell D. Smithers of Tishomingo; 5 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren, 7 Great Great Grandchildren and one more on the way; Several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Harold Johnson, Jessi Burnett, Casey Smithers, Denny Alexander, Kenneth Cook, and Steven Wedge.

Family visitation will be from 6-8 pm Monday evening at the funeral home in Wilson.
