Wilson – Funeral services for Ms. Norma Jean Ferguson, 86, of Wilson are scheduled for Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson with Chad Barron officiating and Jared Gandy assisting. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery.

Norma Jean was born January 1, 1938 in Wilson, Oklahoma to the late Mr. W.G. Ferguson and Mrs. Bertha (Smalley) Ferguson. She departed this life on Monday, May 13, 2024, at her home in Wilson surrounded by family.

Norma was raised as a young child in Dillard, later moving to Wilson, where her father and brothers built a home in town. She attended school at Wilson, graduating from Wilson High School in 1956. Norma had various jobs through the years. She worked at the Thompson Movie Theater, the Ringling pants factory, the Healdton Nursing Center, and the Wilson Nursing Center, where she dedicated 40 years of service.

Norma was a sports fan. She loved to attend sporting events that her children and grandchildren participated in through the years. Her love of sports also extended to watching sporting events on television, especially when OU was playing. Norma was also an avid reader, always reading the ending first to make sure the book was worth the read. Gathering plums in her backyard, an example of her work ethic, was time well spent, in order to make plenty of plum jelly to share with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed working in her yard picking up sticks as well as gathering pecans to store in the freezer. Norma also loved to play card games, Yahtzee, dominoes, and puzzles.

Norma loved her family, always welcoming them into her home. She often had visitors popping in to check up on her. Norma and her sister, Leta, were often seen riding around town with family or friends, checking out the scenery. Norma Jean had a fun-loving, kind, and quick-witted personality. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and loved ones; their memories of her will be cherished.

Preceded in death by her parents, W.G. and Bertha; siblings, Flossie Holmes, Joe Ferguson, Paul Ferguson, Harold Ferguson, and Jessie Williams; and her daughter-in-law, Pam Ferguson.

Norma is survived by her sons, Jack Ferguson and wife Becky of Wilson, and Brad Ferguson and wife Stephanie of Wilson; sister, Leta Wheeler of Wilson; grandchildren, Kacie Barron, Kylie Gandy and husband Jared, and Bryce Ferguson and wife Bailee; great-grandchildren, Kaden and Kendi Barron, Jagger and Jerzee Gandy; and a host of other family and friends.
