Norma Jean Lewis

Wilson – Funeral Services for Mrs. Norma Jean (Russell) Lewis, 86 of Wilson are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel of Wilson with Rev. Sherry Kendrick officiating. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery of Wilson.

Norma was born January 23, 1926 at Wilson to the late Mr. William Ernest Russell and Mrs. Annie Mae (Hodges) Russell. She departed this life Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Katy, TX.

Norma was reared at Wilson graduating from High school here in 1944. She married Mr. Gilbert Roy Bristow and to this union came 3 children, Gary, Michael and Susan. They made their home in Dallas, where Norma worked at the Oak Cliff Bank training bank tellers. She later moved to Terrell, TX and married Mr. Rouse Howell and he tragically preceded her in death in 1970. She then moved back home to Wilson where she married Mr. Bill Lewis on September 16, 1980. Bill also preceded her in death on January 4, 1986.

Norma was a very fun person with a great sense of humor. She was always a lady of elegance who enjoyed her family and friends. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting bears for the highway patrol and attending church at the First United Methodist Church of Wilson. She was also a member of the RSVP and the Sew and Sew Club of Wilson and a faithful OU Sooner fan.

Also preceding her in death are her Parents and 10 siblings, Beatrice, Ernie, Herb, Bill, Monte, Evelyn, Hershal, Ralph, unnamed infant boy, and Wayne; also Norma’s 2 very best friends, Peggy Russell and Lawana Garrett.

Survivors include her children, Gary Bristow of Townsen, MA, Michael Bristow and wife Mary Ann of Katy, TX, and Susan Sessums and husband Bud of Velma, OK; Grandchildren, Eric & Matthew Bristow, Amber Sullivan, Annie McKinley, Shawn Sessums and Janie Trevino; 6 Great Grandchildren and numerous other family and friends.

Pallbearers are Bobby Hieronymous, Casey Russell, Dean Sullivan, Rowdy McKinley, Shawn Sessums, Chance Blain, Kevin Stearns and Rome Russell.

Honorary Bearers are Bud Sessums, and all the members of the First United Methodist Church of Wilson.

Donations in memory may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Wilson Building Fund P.O. Box 235; Wilson, OK 73463.

Family visitation will be held from 4 to 6pm Friday at the funeral home in Wilson.
