Orville Lee Hockersmith

Lone Grove – Funeral Services for Mr. Orville Hockersmith, 80, of Lone Grove, are scheduled for 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson with Rev. Leo Potts officiating. Interment will follow at the Lone Grove Cemetery of Lone Grove. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson, OK.

Orville Hockersmith was born on June 29, 1933 in Brock, OK to the late Thomas Jefferson Hockersmith and Ruby Ann (Thompson) Hockersmith. He passed from this life on January 9, 2014 in Ardmore, OK.

Orville was raised in Kermit, TX and he attended school there. In 1951 he joined the United States Air Force. He was honorably discharged on July 19, 1959 and at that time he moved back to Brock, OK. He met Patricia Ann Magee and they were married on November 17, 1961 in Ardmore. Orville worked for many years as an Oilfield Driller and he retired from Jones Drilling Co. Orville was a longtime member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Lone Grove. He enjoyed watching football, especially the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, and Lone Grove Longhorn Football; he also enjoyed Gun Shows, Antiquing, and watching golf. Orville loved children and he held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and great grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by parents: Tommy & Ruby Hockersmith, brothers: Jimmy Hockersmith & Clifford Hockersmith, a sister: Phyliss Ann Clark, a granddaughter: Amy Redmon and Daughter in law, Glendene Denton.

Orville is survived by his wife Patricia of the home; a daughter Vicki Lawson of Ardmore, OK; three sons: Randy Denton of Lone Grove, OK, Ronald Denton of Healdton, OK and Rodger Hockersmith and fiancé Melissa Day of Lone Grove; a sister Ruth O’Teter Amarillo, Tx, and 7 grandchildren Nicole and Kevin Muncrief, Leslie and Jason Ragland, Paige and Dalton Keeton, Brooke Lawson, Dustin Lawson, James Denton, Cacy Denton. Great Grandchildren: Kylie and Dax Muncrief, Kason White, Avery Ragland, Raylee Keeton, and Kayden, Jadynn, and Jordan Lawson.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Muncrief, Jason Ragland, Dalton Keeton, Jo Bob Clark, John Wild, Dustin Lawson, and James Denton.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Tommy Branch, Monte Magee.

Open viewing will be Tuesday, January 14, 2014 from 9:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home in Wilson.
