Patricia Jean (Vansickle) Hovastak

Ringling- Private family services for Patricia Jean (Vansickle) Hovastak, 83, of Ringling, will be scheduled at a later date. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Crematory at Ringling.

Patricia was born December 23, 1939, in Waurika, to the late Mr. Sidney Jeff Vansickle and Mrs. Vara Evangeline (Copeland) Vansickle. She departed this life Monday, February 20, 2023, at Wichita Falls, TX.

Patricia was raised in Ringling most of her life. She was an only child and she loved going to school. In High School she participated as a Fire Baton Twirler and also served as the Drum Majorette of the Ringling High School Band, graduating as Valedictorian with the class of 1958. Patricia went on to further her education at Southeastern Oklahoma State University receiving a degree in education. She began her teaching career in Sherman, TX where she met and married the late Mr.Jacky Mathis. To this union she was blessed with a daughter, Angela “Angie”. Patricia married Colonel Michael W. Hovastak in 1966 and for 27 years they traveled across the country, adding value to every community they lived in. During that time, they were also blessed with a son, Michael and a daughter, Suzanne. After retirement Patricia and Col. Michael resided in Oklahoma, Florida, and Georgia celebrating 44 years of marriage. Pat will be missed terribly by her family, but they take comfort and rejoice in knowing that she is in her heavenly home.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Sidney and Vara Vansickle; husband, Col. Michael W. Hovastak; daughter, Suzanne Vollrath; son-in-law, David Sauls and her long-time canine companion of 15 years, Samson.

Survivors include her daughter, Angie Sauls of Ringling; son, Michael J. Hovastak and wife Michell of Burke, VA; grandchildren, Ryan Wagner, Patricia Hazelwood, Michael S. Hovastak, Madeline Hovastak, and Elizabeth Grace Vollrath; great grandchildren, Kammie, Emery, Wyatt, and Evelynn; numerous other family and many friends.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Pat’s name to the Ringling High School Marching Band.
